Love Stone Mountain’s Lakenont course
Had another super round on Stone Mountains’s Lake Mont course. Wonderful layout with awesome views of Stone Mountain.
This course got worse !
This used be my favorite course but now all greens are terrible They are all bumpy by lack of maintenance. Bunkers with no sands
Nice!! Pace of Play needs improvement
Very nice course. Just needs improvement in pace of play when the weather is good.
Tough, but fun and scenic
Lakemont is one of two courses at Stone Mountain, and easily my preferred courses here. Quick note that you will have to pay $15 admission fee to get into the park, that is not included in your greens fees, or waived for golfers.
The front 9 is gorgeous, with most of the holes located right on the lake, while the back 9 takes you away from the lake. The first hole is a challenging par 5 with a tee shot over water, then the rest of the hole hugs the waterfront.
The second hole is a long, downhill par 3 and then you're off and running. It is a challenging course, with tight fairways and some long carries, but an enjoyable course with a variety of different holes. You'll definitely use every club in your bag. There are some long grip and rip holes, and some more strategic holes - 11 comes to mind as a fun risk/reward hole.
I usually recommend players play up a tee, as it is far more enjoyable, and at Lakemont this is especially true. It's a long course, and with narrow fairways, sacrificing distance to keep tee shots in play often leads to a daunting approach shot if you are playing too far back.
Pay attention to the day's pin location as the greens are big (replaced fairly recently too) and some have multiple levels leading to some challenging finishes if you're not careful.
I've never shot particularly well here, but it's definitely one of my favorites in the Atlanta area.
Conditions and pace of play were both fine when we went, and the price was certainly fair for a Saturday morning tee-time, and deals can be had if you look for them. We also left a camera in one of the carts, and they were able to track it down and hold it for us until we could make it back out that way to pick it up.
Stone Mountain Golf's social media team is also great, engaging with customers and running giveaways and promotions.
Overall great experience.
You’ll find the course in great shape. Always enjoy Stonemont. Staff is extremely friendly. They are proud of the concessions. Guest you’d call it convenience fee. . My daughter and I had a great time.
Fast greens that held shots
Course was softer than previous, so not quite as much roll on tee shots and approach shots. Greens remain very fast, especially on downhill putts.
Very Nice Golf Course
Excellent throughout, but the park entrance fee for parking of $20 is ridiculous. For golfer, like Lake Lanier, they should make an arrangement where the golfers should not have to pay the $20 entrance fee.
Beautiful Course but Tough
Both of Stone Mountain’s courses have narrow fairways… Which means a ball off to the side Is under trees in the leaves. For the most part, the courses keep the areas under the trees pretty clean...So you can find your ball and hit out. Lakemont is always enjoyable. I think nine of its holes are on the water which makes it very pretty. Highly recommend this course. Give it a try!
Greens remain fast
Excellent conditions for this time of the year. Biggest challenge was calculating the speed on every green, especially on downhill putts.
Challenging for first timer
Played from blue trees, about 6500 yards. Greens were ok except where geese pooped on waterside holes. There blind holes for this first timer. Pace of play was slow at first but picked up after a few holes. It was a beautiful day and I enjoyed the scenery of lake and Stone Mountain.
Great course - Gotten too pricey
Our golf group has played the two Stone Mtn courses for over 20 years but have backed off playing there regularly for the past three years because the price for a tee time on Saturdays is much too high. We used to get an annual package where the price on Saturdays was about $42 or lower in the winter months. Now it's $70 to $80+.
We now play area courses such as Heritage, Southland or Mystery Valley for nearly half the price, and have noticed that a lot of former Stn Mtn players are playing those courses now. It's too bad. We miss Stone Mtn but won't pay their high prices anymore.
Good Day
Weather hot but good day, course was good some greens need help overall good round for the cost
