Absolutely Beautiful
This is my favorite course to play. Every time I go the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The course is in great shape considering the dry weather in the area the last few weeks. The course is very challenging. You have to stay focused, which can be tricky. Because of all the gorgeous veiws all around you. I would highly recommend this course.
Fun course
Great layout and scenic. Greens are not in good shape but playable. Really enjoy playing this course.
Very beautiful scenic view
I couldn't agree more on how beautiful this golf course is. The course condition could be better to make it more fun. it may be early in the season.
Love this course
This is my second trip to this area. We camp in an RV at the very nice campground near the course that is operated by the same management company. I played the course twice during my last trip and again twice this trip. The course staff are very friendly and accommodating. The course is very well maintained and is set up nicely for amateurs. It is a very scenic course. Great value too. The only area that needs improvement is the sand in some of the bunkers was too shallow. Otherwise, GREAT course. I’ll definitely be back.
Tucked away Gem
Great resort tucked away on the Tex Louisiana border. Great views and landscapes. It’s winter greens but putt fairly well. Par 5s are tough and par 4s are challenging. The par 3s are simple. Great course to play and resort to bring the family for a awesome weekend.
Beautiful!
Fast greens, manicured fairways, gorgeous lake views...love to play here. Super friendly staff and great food in the clubhouse grill.
Great value, good course, great staff
Could not have enjoyed myself more. Very good condition and great staff, great value
Great course
The course is extremely well maintained and very scenic.
Spectacular views
The course conditions around sand traps was poor, to many weeds. Greens were a little slow with little weeds. The layout and views of the lake are spectacular and make up for some of the poor conditions. The staff was very friendly and helpful and I don't blame them for some of the conditions. I believe the problem is not enough revenue because of it's remote location.
disappointed
The greens were extremely slow and not in good shape at all. The bunkers are terrible. Cannot even use them due to their condition. Fairways are spotty as are the tee boxes. Rough is very tough and demanding. You better hit the ball straight or your score is toast. There are very few straight shots on this course and several blind shots. Too bad the greens and bunkers are so bad as I could see myself enjoying this course but the standard green fee is around $50 I believe and way over priced given it's current condition. On a positive, the staff are extremely nice.
Good destination golf outing
We made the easy drive down from Shreveport to play here. Staff was very friendly and check in was a breeze. Course was in good condition. Tees and fairways are lush with some thick rough around the greens. Wish I brought a putter with more weight since I left a dozen putts short. Greens roll true and are in good shape for spring in the south. AMAZING views of the lake! Not a single house on the course so it's a true treat to play here. We will be back!
Great round
Interesting course--beautiful and great views of lake on many holes. Front nine was pretty but relatively easy, back nine more dramatic views and more difficult holes. Interesting dog-legs throughout the course. Staff very helpful.
It's better then the price tag
I played from the tips and this course was a true test, very tight windows off the tee and a lot of blind shots if you don't know the course. I think they could definitely trim some of trees back a bit for the back tees some shots were near impossible with a driver due to over growth. The layout is cool but rather strange, short par 5s but lots of hard bends to keep the course honest. The fairways were not bad but greens were terrible. Very long, lots of weeds and ruts/divots. For 38.00 with range balls and cart you can't beat it. Some great views but don't expect great conditions. I would go back but it's definitely not a bucket lister.
Great Place to Play
I just played this course for the first time and had a blast!!! The staff was super friendly and helpful from the moment we arrived. This course is a shot-shapers course, and it helps if you can work the ball a little bit (draw and fade the ball). I have to say that #17 is my favorite hole, since I got my first hole-in-one during the round on that hole. The greens have some rough spots around the edges, but that didn't affect putting too much. Overall, the course is in great shape and was a lot of fun to play. In fact, i enjoyed it so much that I'm taking a group of friends back to play the course again tomorrow (it's a 2 1/2 hour drive from my town). I recommend this course to all golfers that enjoy a challenge. It truly was a lot of fun to play.
Forget Pebble Beach.....
I drove 346 miles to play this beautiful course and was not disappointed. This saved me 3400 miles traveling to Pebble Beach to play their signature hole #7. Heck, #11 at Cypress Bend is just as beautiful and much warmer. The course and amenities are wonderful. As other reviewers have commented, the greens need work. If they closed one nine and redid the other nine's greens.....that would make it a superb.
Beautiful Layout
The course is located on a beautiful vista with water on several holes and elevation changes that will keep you guessing throughout the round. Careful with club selection. From the Gold Tees there are a number of challenging tee shots. The Fairways were well grassed. The greens were slow today and could use some TLC. Coming out of winter this is not unusual. Traps were in good condition, neatly raked. Clubhouse (Pro-shop, Snack Bar) was very clean, comfortable. Back porch is very nice. Driving range well maintained, no charge for range balls. Staff was excellent. Overall the course was well worth the $ and the layout is somewhat breathtaking. You will enjoy this course. This is not a course for beginners.
Gorgeous track, Rough greens
On course with lots of character. The back nine is particularly interesting with the numerous shots beside the lake or across the lake. The major shortcoming of this golf course is it's putting surface. Lots of dead spots and weeds that have grown into the green. This results in a very irregular, rough putting surface. Despite the putting shortcoming I would play again, just limiting myself to 2 putts per green and having fun enjoying the tremendous hole layout.
Beautiful Setting for a Golf Course
I bought a couple of one day hotel stays at the resort with rounds of golf on a discount site & decided early "spring" (March) would beat the hot sticky summer time. Not a bad plan except for the spring rain storms. Got drenched on my first round & totally rained out on the second. Oh well...
The setting is incredible right on Toledo Bend Lake. I was surprised by the ups & downs but they probably added to the beauty. The fairways were in pretty good shape - a few bare spots on the edges. The greens were pretty rough, but it is 2 months ahead of when they should be in their prime. Would like to come back in May or June to see them then.
It's not close to any population center, so will probably require a bit of a drive to get there, but is worth the trip
