Nice Coarse
Coarse was in poor shape due to the recent freeze. Normally a very nice coarse.
Always a favorite
I treated my son to a round here, as it is one of our favorite courses in the area. The course was wet due to rain from 2 days prior but overall was in good shape. The pace of play was slower than we liked because there was a foursome ahead of us, who were behind a fivesome and then a group of about 7 ahead of them. There was no marshal out on the course to correct this so we just took our time and patiently waited.
We finished the front nine and went to the clubhouse to inquire about playing the front nine and reported the situation. The staff was apologetic and not only told us this was okay, but offered to also let us play the back nine too.
All in all it was a good round despite the poor etiquette ahead of us.
course review
fairways and bunkers were in immaculate condition. however, the same cannot be said for the greens. patchy areas of thick grass effecting the speed and trajectory of the putts. i used my golfnow points to get an amazing price to play such a prestigious course on the weekend.
Nice but greens slow
The greens and ter boxes were in rough shape. Overall a great experience. I'd go back but not for full price. Mallard is nice for much less money.
Very nice layout
We played a few weeks after hurricane Beryl soaked this area. Two other courses we played were still trying to get the turf under control after not having been able to mow in wet conditions for a couple of weeks. It appears this course drains well enough to have handled the excess rainfall.
While rough was still challenging in spots, the fairways and greens were in great shape. Pace of play was great, (maybe because it was too hot for the average golfer, lol).
They built a lot of undulation into the course design, differentiating this track from most of the others in the area. We thoroughly enjoyed playing here.
Quality course with real rough
I enjoyed the layout of the course and the amenities like the practice area. The course isn’t that difficult if you can keep it in the fairway…. But if you’re off in the rough you’ll have some issues. Being in the rough was a challenge as the ball would almost sit down in it.
Looking forward to going back to play again.
course review
The greens were recently aerated then covered with sand. Just added a little difficulty with putting speed and accuracy. Played as a single and one group let me thru on the 4th or 5th hole then played straight thru the rest of the 18 holes w/o any waiting. Fairways and bunkers were in great shape. Biggest complaint is their water stations had no water and the heat index was in triple digits. Only water was the two 10 oz or so bottled waters in the ice chest they provided which I had filled with ice prior to playing.
Sandy
Greens has just been aerated
They should be much better in 3 weeks
Probably should have asked
