The Wisp Resort’s 172 acres of ski terrain are heaven for winter-sports enthusiasts, but this resort offers so much more year-round. It is an outdoor playground for all ages thanks to Deep Creek Lake and an endless array of mountainous adventures: canopy tours, segways, mountain biking, a mountain coaster, disc golf, 36 holes of regular golf, gem mining, pontoon boat tours, whitewater rafting and flatwater kayaking. The Fantasy Valley and Lodestone golf courses both boast soaring scenery. Lodestone, designed by Hale Irwin, features some of the largest greens on the East Coast.Facts

Great greens
Liked the course the fairways and greens were in great shape. The sand traps were bad so we just stayed out of them. We got a great deal on golf now so can’t complain about the price. I would play it again.
Awesome views
Love playing this course! The views of the mountains and lake are awesome. Be sure to bring a few extra balls in tour bag unless you can hit them straight and long all day!
Completely disappointed!
Since it opened, we have made it a point to play every year and it was one of our favorite courses. This trip: It took 2 ½ hours to play our first 9. A large percent of the fairways were dead/ burnt out. The sand traps are being overgrown and not maintained at all. The heat index was over 90 degrees and there was no water at all on the course, and no cart/ beverage person. We left after 9 holes.
Lodestone used to be pristine and amazing. Now, it does not deserve it’s ranking and cannot justify the high greens-fee cost. Negligence and poor course maintenance has ruined what was a fantastic course. We used to refer friends to go, but we won’t be back.
Overpriced
Very disappointed with the condition of a $70 course- Fantasy Valley. $24 for a 6 pack and the staff wasn’t the friendliest. Rough was extremely long everything else wasn’t taken care of. Would NOT come back
Good course
if the sand traps were kept up the course would be great. Tee boxes and fairways were in good shape.
Target Golf...
Outstanding course... if you are a target golfer. Very few if any flat areas on the course, which makes an excellent challenge. The greens are difficult to read potato chip like undulating greens of varying size. Again, an excellent challenge. The pace was perfect, vacation at the lake pace made for a complete weekend with a fun round of golf.
Beautiful But Demanding Layout,
Very enjoying day at a beautiful but tough and demanding layout. Very friendly employees. Played a Golf Now, Golf Pass Hot Deal. Excellent Great Deal.First time playing this course.Scored higher than I normally do, Which just means I can’t wait to play it again.
Shaggy fairways
The course is in good shape. Just the fairways were a little high. I always enjoy the view from some of the tee boxes. However the course tends to be a little pricey. I guess since it's a resort course and there isn't much competition you can charge what you.
Not what it once was
The course and amenities are very dated. With the removal of a couple holes, it really made this course an eye sore for me. The sand traps were not taken care of at all and they are really starting to let it all go. The sheds need torn down all over the course. Greens were discolored but held true. The course is extremely narrow and greens are small if you are not an avid player, I would not recommend. Take at least a dozen balls as the rough is impossible to find anything right off the fairway. Just trending downward
Fantasy Valley. Dave
Fantasy Valley was a most interesting course. Staff is friendly and very helpful. Course layout is excellent with some very challenging holes. Greens were excellent condition and roll was good. I would recommend playing this course .
Fantasy Valley
This course is very tight. If you have trouble keeping your ball in the fairway, you will have a long day searching for your golf ball. It is not a “forgiving” golf course. However, the greens were nice; fairways were nice but some holes were extremely difficult for the novice. It is not an easy course and is challenging. If you want to play an easy scoring course, this one is not for you.
Good for your buck!
This course was great for the price. However, some of the Par 3s seemed more like Par 4s. It could have been because of the wind that it was hard to get a good grasp on what club to use
Course needs attention
Beautiful layout, but course needs a lot of attention. Was a great price on Hot Deal . But the conditions of the traps, haven’t been raked in like forever and no rakes on course. Greens very not bad. Putting well.
Great course BUT
We went out early and let a single go through. Then a three some hit in to us twice. We let them play through at hole 10. The three some became a five some and the three some behind us was pushing us. We played a miserable round of golf being pushed and we were terribly disappointed. Very frustrating
Hidden Gem in Western Maryland!!
Played this gem yesterday on a great deal through GolfNow, and all I can say is "I will be back!!" It is a 4 1/2 hour drive from Philadelphia, but the scenery and course is worth the trip. Met the superintendent early in the morning, and after speaking with him you could tell that he really cares about the upkeep of the course and it's conditions. Due to the Covid situation they have only been open for about two weeks, and he was telling us that there was still some work that needed to be done on the course, but it was very hard to tell where. With the limited staff due to Covid, he mentioned that some of the grassy areas around the bunkers needed to be cut, but honestly I couldn't tell. Greens were in great shape, and although not cut short, ran pretty fast. A lot of undulation on the greens which made putting a challenge, but that was my fault putting it far from the pin.
There were a few blind shots from the tee boxes, but if you hit them straight and aim for the 150 marker there will be no issues. Wide fairways and large greens helped as well. One nice thing, in my opinion, is that you cannot see another hole from the current hole you play.
All of the staff were friendly from Pro Shop, Superintendent and grounds crew, Ranger, and On site Professional. We got a fantastic deal through GolfNow, but even without the deal, I will be back. I want to play it when the Superintendent feels that the course is in great shape. Thanks to the staff for making it a great experience. I wish I lived a little closer.
Nice course - friendly staff
Generally a nice, playable course, requiring some really good shots here and there. Conditions were in good shape. Friendly staff. Overall good experience.
How is this the courses fault? Sounds like you can't keep up with the POP. Let as many groups go through as you need, or learn to play faster
