Golf review
very nice course. Good use of all the clubs in the bag. Course was in great shape even though rain had been lacking lately. Pace of play was really slow. Would 9f been nice to see a ranger/starter moving around to speed things up. We were just 2 playing and got stuck being a slow threesome. They seemed reluctant to let a single play through. Also just cause you think you hit a big drive doesn't mean you should play the blue tees.
Average experience
The course layout is pretty good overall, has some difficult holes...with a lot of trees on both sides and narrow fairways.
The course was very dry...greens were crusty. The rough was dry as well...ground underneath was hard to the point where you couldn't take a divot.
The first 9 holes we just waited and waited...took almost 3 hours to play the front. Had a lot of twosomes... probably could have condensed some grounds. We had 3 people.
Solid course
Great time today golfing at Candlestone. Course was in good condition and greens were great. Not a long course and the set up was not difficult however the greens were small making you for the lack of driving difficultly. The greens were protected by bunkers although the sand was not in great shape today. #8 had some cosmetic issues with trees and ground under repair but overall it was well worth the money.
Hidden Gem
Played this course before number of years ago. First time back. Course was in great shape. Greens ran true. Rollout was amazing. You'd think short of the hole and ball kept running out. Makes chipping a premium. Open to start narrows at times. $44 Sunday morning in June is and excellent deal. Didn't use amenities. But certainly could have used a beer cart. Fortunately not hot more for my golf game.
Pace of play
Pace of play was terrible. Nobody on the course managing groups. After a 2 hr plus 9 holes as a single they let a old man and woman off in front of groups that have been backed up all day. Not recommended to anyone.
course in great shape, greens were prefect. Lots of fun.
AWESOME Greens & Fairways
First time playing here and I was very impressed with the conditions of the greens and fairways. Greens were very fast and rolled so nicely. Some tough greens with heavy sloping. Fairways were mowed beautifully, although the rough was brown due to recent drought.
The layout cuts through stacks of maples and oaks on both sides, and pines. Some holes wide open. Medium difficulty throughout.
Paid $25 for 18/cart with use of Golf Show voucher. Come play here, you won't be disappointed.
Poor Shape
I was looking forward to playing this course when i played a few on the West side. Based on its storied history i figured the "new" owners would continue keeping the course conditions some of the best. I was wrong - fairways were long, greens were slow and tees needed attention. When asking a worker why the course had deteriorated she said, "the owners care more about the restaurant..l." Its too bad, a course with a great past should work to uphold it.
Great golf!
Course is fun, challenging, and in good condition. I try to play there 3-4 times a year.
nicely maintained
course is nicely maintained and challenging long fairways
great course, very friendly staff
The staff at the pro shop were great. We got on the course a little before our tee time and were able to play at a good pace. It is a wonderful, yet challenging course. Highly recommend it.
