Gull Lake View Golf Resort
About Gull Lake View Golf Resort
Since the 1960s, the Scott family has transformed 2,000 acres in southwest Michigan into one of America's largest golf resort communities. Situated in the appropriately named Augusta, Michigan, near Kalamazoo and Battle Creek, Gull Lake View Golf Resort has become synonymous with affordable packages where golfers stay in comfortable villas to enjoy six different courses, all from different eras. The East and West courses were built in the mid-1960s and mid-1970s, with the two Stonehedge courses added later in 1989 and 1994. The family bought the Bedford Valley, a classic course known for hosting tournaments, in 1988 and then put the feather in the cap, debuting the linksy Stoatin Brae by Renaissance Golf Design in 2017. Those who fall in love with the experience can buy real estate in one of several neighborhoods.Facts

Nice tract
Played the North course for the first time. Course is in very nice shape. Greens were in excellent condition and putted true. Nice mixture of holes. Unique in that it has 6 par 3, par 4 and par 5 holes. Worth a play for sure.
Best test in Kalamazoo
We had the first tee time and it was great. My only complaint is that the snack shop wasn’t open at the turn. It’s available at 3 different points in the round and was not staffed during any of those times we passed it. Thankfully though, the bathroom portion WAS open, which was appreciated.
Overall, awesome course and a tough challenge.
Stonehedge North
Played this course Tues (7/14), weather perfect. Bring a face mask - you need this to enter building; you do not have to wear it during play, if you don't want to ride together a $5 fee is assessed for 2nd cart.
Greens are perfect, they did not break as much as expected...personal opinion.
Always liked this course, different setup than most courses you will play...3 par 5's, 3 par 4's, 3 par 3's each side; front is links style open, back is not links style.
Player friendly
Course was very consistent, back nine plays much harder than the front! Lots of elevation changes on the back! Fun course because there are holes that you can score well on and other you have to lay back
Iffy at best!!
Course was actually pretty playable!! Only complaints were the ground was so hard taking a big divot could break a wrist!! Second they need to better mark the holes because the course is so close together!!The course is definitely not worth the 79 dollar green fee!!
I'll Be Back
Have a family vacation cottage on the other side of Kalamazoo, so this is an hour drive and hadn't taken a ride until now. It's worth the trip. Mid-week, played alone as a single on a hot day, finishing in well under 3 hours. Course conditions were great, despite the recent heat. Elevation changes from tees to greens, Big beautiful trees. Many big sloped greens with large bunkers, but a fair share of small ones too. From the Green tees (6500+), the par 5's aren't long, but the par 3's make up for it. Fair and fun.
Not sure I understand the hype
I had heard Stoatin Brae was getting Top 100 hype, so we drove over from the Western Michigan coast. I don't think it was worth the hour drive unfortunately. For a new course, the layout was very simple, save the first few holes on the back nine. More importantly, it feels like most of the holes are on top of each other; you can see most of the course from any one point, and are at risk of incoming errant shots from other holes. For a new property receiving such hype, I'd have expected a more seclusive layout.
Great Fun
Played with my college roommate from 1966. Truly enjoyed the course. He was very impressed with Stonehedge. Great course, great friend.
Great all around round
This course is very nice. The atmosphere is relaxing, and it is all about the golf experience. Greens are in excellent shape.
