Loon Golf Resort
About Loon Golf Resort
The Loon Golf Resort has grown to include a second location in Gaylord: The Ridge, formerly the Marsh Ridge Golf Resort. The Loon offers a townhome village with four-bedroom/four-bathroom units with full kitchens just steps from the clubhouse restaurant and the course. The Ridge is more versatile with hotel-style rooms, suites and free-standing condos, all within walking distance to the Summit Grill. Lodges named Copenhagen (11 rooms, one apartment), Summit (20 rooms) and Bergen (12 rooms) all feature a large common/recreation area. The Scandinavian Cabin sleeps 12 with six bedrooms, a fireplace, full kitchen and living area. Its 6,231-yard course is short but beautiful. The 6,418-yard Lakes course sports four holes on Lake Michaywe roughly four miles from both resort properties.Facts

Excellent greens and fairways.
Beautiful course. Tremendous amount of work has been done to clear and clean up debris from ice storm. We had the course to ourselves 😎
Great course
We were one of the few players on the course. Greens and fairways were very good.it was evident that much time and work was spent cleaning up after devastating ice storm.
nice course
good course there was a lot of rain a few days before we played but the play was pretty good
Nice course!
We had a great time playing the course and it was beautiful. Only real complaint was the greens were a little beat up and there were some weeds growing here and there in the fairways, fringe, and even occasionally on the greens.
Beautiful Challenging Course!
While golfing in Northern Michigan my wife and I came across The Ridge and decided to play it.
The area has 3 courses and we chose The Ridge.
It is a very challenging course with some narrow fairways, steep hills and valleys, assorted hazards, sand traps, and water.
Several tee boxes have large areas of brush between the tee box and landing area.
The tees, greens, and fairways were in very good shape.
The Ridge is the most challenging course of the three located here.
Thank you for your feedback! We’ve initiated a tree removal plan across all three of our courses, starting this fall. By the 2025 season, you’ll notice significantly wider fairways. We hope you’ll give us another try and experience the improvements firsthand!
Hit the Fairway or take your Penalty
I would say for the intermediate golfer, this course is difficult. The fairway have plenty of room but, if you miss, you're in the trees. The course conditions were very good and pace of play was excellent. You have a lot of carries over marshes - a lot depends on the tees you hit from. At 79, I mostly used the gold tees which made the greens reachable on the second shot for par 4's and third shot on par 5's. The white tees, while not a whole lot longer, do mean that you have to be more accurate with your shots - that's if you can actually tell your shots where to land! Green true and clean - a little faster but not out of site.
