Beautiful golf course
Well manicured course, with a good variety of holes, over rolling terrain. I am a 9-10 handicap golfer and found it to be a good challenge.
Great day except….
We only saw the cart girl once during the round and it was on the first hole. Got a little thirsty.
Enforce pace if play
Pace of play very slow. Foresome in front of us was really behind and nobody attempted to speed them up. Other than slow play the course is excellent.
Excellent course but demanding.
The fortress is an excellent course for conditions and visuals, however, it’s a pretty hard golf course for a tourist town. Low handicap golfers will enjoy the course. If you are off the fairways you will get deep rough if you find your golf ball at all. If you are, the Muni blue tees player do yourself a favor and play the white tees or farther up just so you will enjoy the course and not complain that you wasted your money because the course is too hard.
Great course, a must play!
If you haven’t played the Fortress yet, you’re missing out. It has been a while since I played here last but I was surprised to find a great hot deal to go out in the evening. I was sandwiched between a group of three and a duo behind me. The pace was a bit slower than I would’ve liked but I was out by myself away from the kids, so I didn’t mind! Conditions were great, fairways and rough are close to pristine. Greens had a LOT of spike marks, however it looked like there was an event that day so this was expected. Great layout, some very challenging holes and other easier ones. Definitely recommend stopping here to play and visiting Frankenmuth afterwards!
A challenging but fun course
The course was mostly maintained well (along with nice landscape & flower garden, etc.) and somewhat difficult but fun to play. It was somewhat windy but quite as it located far from major roads. I'd play again.
Fortress
excellent course. bit expensive. Sand traps need more sand!
Always a GREAT round!
I try to play this course at least once every year. It is always in great shape and well maintained! The staff is friendly! The only tiny downside of this course is many holes play alongside each other hence, it is not unusual to have a blind "incoming" fired at you. Once is about typical however, this most recent round had three incomings during the course of the round. Of course, it is not the fault of the golf course, however it is something to be aware of when you play.
A terrific day
This is a beautiful golf course with a great variety of holes. The course was in excellent condition. A fun track to play.
