Worth The Drive From St. Louis
I've always enjoyed playing Innsbrook. A bit of a drive from St. Louis but it is a fun course to play. Great design, decent shape, lot of slope and six par 3's (par 70). This course has had several starting holes (1, 10, & 15) but it looks like they have setted in on the current layout.
What I liked...
Staff is friendly, $30 greens fee in November, g,reat design, greens were fast, carts have the best cushioned seats and since it is surrounded by trees, the leaves weren't that bad. I think hole 13 is one of the best par 5's in the area.
What I didn't care for...
Most greens had small areas that didn't have any grass (really didn't affect play), some rough areas in the fairways from poor drainage. Hole 14 was really bad. Looks like they have put in some drainage tiles and filled the holes with small gravel. Good news these drainage tiles are not in the landing area.
The opening hole is very difficult. Small fairway with slope R-L. Rough was hard pan taking all balls left into the woods. The green is also too severe. Hole 4 is a very boring par 3. Beautiful view from the 16th tee but the fairway has too much slope L-R.
Great course
definitely a riding course. They layout was perfect, residents do not worry about golf balls in their yards. Lots of travel distance between many holes.
Innsbrook golf course
They have done an excellent job making the property look great. Course itself needs more grooming especially the greens and roughs. It has improved dramatically over the last 3 years. Not quite up to top tier yet but getting there.
Not what I remember
Greens were in rough shape. Should have been a discount because of it.
Over priced
The sprinklers were on most of the morning making the course an absolute swamp and the greens were in horrendous shape. This course was not worth $70 for the shape it was in.
No Bang for your Buck
I’ve played Innsbrook many times over the years and would describe it as a mediocre course. That was perfectly fine when they charged a reasonable price. The past few years they have nearly doubled their prices, but haven’t done anything to improve the course except install new cart paths. The greens are patchy with bare spots and inconsistent speeds. Green surrounds are mostly crab grass. Fairways vary from rock hard to spongey. Pace of play is always slow, but that is to be expected with 6 par 3s and short par 5s. Overall there are many better options for the money Innsbrook charges now.
Good Value
This was my first time playing the course and for the most part it was in good shape. Many greens appeared blotchy with pitch marks and mud so greens were tough. However, the course was manicured (fairways cut / roughs in shape) so the rain may have just played a little toll on the greens.
Sadly down hill
Having played this course many times over the past 20 years, I must say the course is in the worst shape I have ever seen it. The T-boxes and greens are in poor shape.
Not as good of shape as in the past.
Greens were the main issue. Some kind of disease or something. Very hard to put.
