Manor House at Tanglewood Park
About Manor House at Tanglewood Park
The Manor House Bed and Breakfast isn't your typical golf hotel or resort, but its location inside the 1,100-acre Tanglewood Park does have its advantages. It's within a mile of Tanglewood Park's 45 holes of golf, including the Championship Course, host of the 1974 PGA Championship won by Lee Trevino. The Victorian era manor dating to 1859 has been completely restored. All the rooms include their own private baths and period furniture and decor. Golfers can also stay at the cottage, guesthouse and apartment. Park amenities feature an aquatic center, horse stables, tennis courts and more.Facts

Poor customer service
We arrived an hour ahead of our 12:30 tee time to hit some balls and warm up. We were not notified of the "30 minute" delay due to frost until we arrived to the first tee and was informed by the started. This delay resulted in us teeing off at 1:15 and not being able to complete our round because of slow play. By the third hold we were waiting on every shot and there was a full hole open ahead. The group ahead of us was 3 seniors and one youth that was apparently getting lessons because one guy told him every shot what he needed to do then took time to explain what he did wrong each time. Ranger was informed but nothing was done about it. Course was OK for the time of year but it seemed that no one playing there knew about repairing greens because there were ball marks everywhere. Will try it again in the spring and not around a holiday.
Very good playablity
Almost excellent greens. They were a little beat up.
BRING YOUR A GAME
Playing the correct tees is key for this course. Being a par 70 even 6100 can make the par 4's long. There are a lot of bunkers most of which are in good shape with avg sized undulating greens. If you can't putt, expect a high number. Course is well maintained and laid out.
Best Layout in Forsyth County
Probably my 100th time playing the Championship course and I always love it.... Just the best value in the Triad really.
good layout
The greens were lumpy and bumpy with green sand dispersed on brown patches.
good tough course
you will not find a better golf course for the money, also get some bunker practice in before your round.
Incredible Golf Course
If you want to play a pro golf course play here. It is in great condition even for this late in the year and one of the most challenging golf courses you will ever play. It's not long from the white tees but because of the many bunkers and ongulating greens it's a real test.
Great Courcse
Beautiful Day at the Course, A little Slow but we had a great time.
Highly recommend.
Challenging course
I played the Reynolds course for the 3rd time and still found it to be challenging; you seldom can see a flag from any tee, but very enjoyable.
Great golf
What a beautiful wk of golf and both Tanglewood courses were great !!
Great course
Awesome course great value for price. Will go back for sure.
Nice Place
Good course. Bent greens and fairways were terrific. Unusual in the southeast. Lots and lots if bunkers. I found 7 of them. Great value. Will return soon.
Best Deal in Triad
The best $10 you can spend on golf in the Triad. Always in great shape (greens were a little rough) but always fun.
traps and entrance fee
If you like a course with 99 bonkers, this one's got em! And yes, I meant bonkers. Some are unavoidable but fun.
Was not told of a $2 per car entrance fee. Never had that for golf. Our greens fee covers that. We made no use of the rest of the park. Exceptions should be made on this. A beautiful day and a nice place it was. Course charged us $49 and GolfNow quoted $39. It happens and I'm sure they'll straighten it out.
Tanglewood
Excellent course in great condition. I would recommend it to others. It is good value and worth the trip.
1st Time
Was referred to this course from one of my wifes managers. Great track. Single digit golfer. Course was in great shape, green speeds were up to par. Lots of history here. What a bargain. can't wait to play it again.
great value
I played this course in 2002 on a vacation from England ,it looked different to how I remember it.The greens were a little patchy in parts but if the championship course is too difficult with all the traps then have a go at this one, still a challenge but good value.Staff very obliging and friendly.I personally look forward to my next visit.
A True "Championship" Golf Course
This is a true Championship golf course, framed by tree-lined fairways that define this picturesque, parkland course. The course conditions were excellent and the experience was enhanced by a perfect early fall day under Carolina blue skies. But be prepared, as this is a course that also presents a golfing challenge that will test you from begining to end, and demands your A game if you hope to post a decent score. From the tee accuracy is at premium due to the bermuda rough, and several holes demand length to set up good approach. Tanglewood also rewards the ability to work the ball off the tee, notably at #4, #5, #9, #12, and #17. The Championship course also demands well struck iron shots, as deep bunkers surround most greens waiting to swallow any mishits. The greens are also tiered and segmented into generally 3 distinct putting areas, so approaching the correct pin position is critical. Rare opportunity to play a Major Championship course that remains capable of testing even the best players.
Reynolds Course has been better
I've played the Reynolds and Championship course several times. I am not a huge fan of the Reynolds course simply because I do not like the lay out. Several short dog legs is not my type of course. I HATE the first hole. A par 5 in which you hit 5 iron and another 5 iron to get around the 100 yd marker. Not my type of golf hole. I was disappointed with the greens. Greens were plugged within 2 weeks or so. Even if they had not been plugged, 5 or 6 of the greens would still have been pretty bad. Most of the tee boxes are terrible. Not bad for $22, but I'll pay more next time to play the championship course.
nice course for the price.
Back tees only 6500. Lots of doglegs. They had just plugged and overseeded the greens before we played. Besides that and the crabgrass on hole 4's green, the course was in good shape. We were a bit jealouse of how green the champions course was though.
