Barefoot Norman Course OK but that's all
We played in a tournament one day after the remnants of a tropical storm blew through. So, it was extremely wet and cart path only in 90+ deg heat. Very tough playing conditions. Bunkers were terrible. The sand consistency is among the worst I've seen in Myrtle Beach. Probably would not return unless forced to in another tournament round.
Barefoot Resort for golf trip
My group of 12 usually stay at the Legends Resort but it was full so we made a return to Barefoot. The courses are all very good, Fazio, Dye, Love and Norman, in that order. The last two trips we made, the condos were cheaply furnished and my group really disliked the small twin beds. The courses are great so let me be clear. The staff is very friendly. BUT: No buffet and one waitress trying to feed 12-20 guys was a problem every morning, and course managers didn't make any moves to resolve. No practice facilities on Fazio, Love, Norman so you have to be shuttled 1/2 mile away. No chance to practice at night after dinner. We will go back to Legends as soon as there is vacancy. Time off the course is important too.
Played the Fazio
After reading all the reviews before booking a tee time, I found the staff extremely friendly and efficient but I was a bit disappointed in the course. We arrived 1/2 hour prior to our tee time, only to find out, the practice green was under repair and you had to be shuttled to a driving range. Which I was told I really wouldn't have time to get there and hit balls and get back before my tee time. One of the bunkers on the first hole was washed out and full of water, the others were hard packed. The fairways were full of large clumps of cut wet grass. The greens were fast, which I don't mind, but putting across the replaced holes on the greens was a bit tricky as they were not flush with the green and usually covered in sand as well as several sandy patches on the green. Though I only paid $63 for the round I found other courses at Myrtle for less money and in better condition.
Nice Course. Great Facility
Very enjoyable course to play. Some of the greens had been aeri9fied but overall the greens rolled fairly well. A very good layout. Very nice facility.
Good Place to play!!!
Enjoyed my round. Course in good shape. Played the first 8 holes in 45 mins. Paired up with another single who was a member there. Really enjoyed our round and the day. The gentleman also bought us a post round beer as well.
One of the best courses at myrtle beach
One of the nicest courses I have played at myrtle beach. Great value when you play on a wed.
It's like 2 different courses.
This course plays like two completely different tracks with the front nine being scenic and fun and the back nine being unmemorable and generic. Fairways, bunkers and greens were in good shape but it seemed like the greens had recently been aerated and were a bit slow and bumpy. I found the staff to be very professional and cordial from start to finish. Coming from North Jersey where most municipal courses will cost you $50 bucks to play with a cart, this place was a steal for $63!
Great course greens had been air rated
Golf now should now if the greens have been air rated the other three courses greens had not been done yet.Other than the greens the course was in good shape a few spotty areas .vFor the money it was a good option.
Lots of Sand!
This course is great! While I was at the beach, I received an email that it won Myrtle Beach course of the year. I see why. This is a typical Dye course. Some parts of the course are very deceiving. They do have an amazingly accurate in-cart GPS system, trust it. If you hit it straight and accurate it is not very tough. However, if you get errant off the tee, it could be a long hole and day.
Very nice but over priced
The LOVE course was very nice, great shape and the pace of play was good. Only problem was they sent us off 10 and we were told we couldnt get off the front 9 for 2.5 hours. Kinda of stupid but we ended up getting off in between 2 groups that were running late. Course seems to cater to its members, which is fine, but at $105 I would expect a little special attention.
Fazio Course was a challenge!
Fazio course was both beautiful and challenging. I can see why it was one of the top rated courses in the area! Friendly staff and well organized. I would make one of their four courses a priority on your next visit to Myrtle Beach.
Tip:
Wednesday was a much lower cost than any other day.
A golf complex designed and operated to provide an incredible golf experience.
An impressive facility with a plethora of amenities and unsurpassed service that make for a very special golf experience. Wednesdays are discount days for all four courses at the Barefoot Resort. Complimentary range balls with shuttle service to a practice facility that includes its own clubhouse facilities. The Love course offers a variety of challenges without being punitive including a reachable par four that is no risk and all reward. This is a course that will appeal to golfers at all levels.
Very fair
Course layout is challenging, but very fair. Staff is awesome and very accommodating. Played without a single delay the whole day, 3 hrs and 15 mins.
Visually appealing and well laid out
Course was immaculate, visually appealing, and a good overall test of one's golfing ability
Too long a round 5.4 hrs--for a weekday
Thanks for the memories. This is a real pain in the butt to fill out
Very hard greens.
Pretty course, well maintained but very hard (firm) greens with tight short grass. Impossible to hold the greens. Good news is you don't have to fix ballmarks on the greens because there are none. Also hard to read.
Overrated
Nice layout, but no rough. Many bunkers, but not in very great shape. Great for eyes, but nothing to add for golf. A great tourist course fun to play in vacation.
Great course
It was great course that well maintained course. Such as fast green like PGA , beautiful display
Getting better
The Love course still has its winter coat but it is starting to improve. The greens were a bit slow,9, but putted true. Ths staff was great. The driving range takes a shuttle ride to get to. It was a cold ride on a trailer pulled behind a pu truck. Brrrrr! Overall it was a fun day.
Very Nice
This course was very nice but extremely difficult. It is probably by far the most challenging course I have ever played. I had a great time but unless you get a package deal it's very expensive.
