I live in the Midwest and played this course in late March with my daughter while on spring break. I really enjoyed the friendliness of that staff, particularly the starter. Good amenities, especially the practice area and the brisket sandwich, so don't be afraid to come early

There are no bad holes, but the course is not particularly memorable. You will notice that most photographs of this course show different angles of the same par 3. The course itself is not what I would call a canyon or quarry type layout, so beware.

There was rain two days before our round, so the course while rather firm was paths only. That made for a brutal pace so we bailed after just 9 holes. The conditioning was not great. Greens were on the slow side. Tee boxes and fairways were nice. Rough and bunkers were spotty. Too be fair the rain from earlier in the week may have kept the crews from being able to rake.

Falconhead is probably less than half the price of La Cantera or Barton Springs, so with that in mind, this is priced right and worth a visit.

Falconhead can be described as a hill country gem. Set amongst a very nice Austin neighborhood, the views of spectacular homes along with the hill country is simply spectacular. Carts are nice but would like to see a GPS added to them for convenience. Conditions were very good the day of play. Bunkers were all raked and in very good condition. Fairways and rough were cut and looked very nice. The greens were average speed (the board in the clubhouse said 8). I’d concur they were approximately that speed. Not overly quick, but not underwhelmingly slow either. I played at the LaCantera the week previously so Falconhead’s weren’t quite as quick. Hole variety isn’t lacking. Short par 4s. Long difficult ones. Up hill second shots seemed to be the tendency around the place. The trough bunkers were very neat and unique. Hole 8 may be the nicest par three landscaping and setting of any course anywhere. Enjoy! Overall a solid 4-5 star course worth the play if in the Austin area.

My only complaint is that I could not blame the course for my bad score (lol). The greens were in perfect condition as well as the tee boxes and fairways. It cost just a little more than some other courses around but well worth it.

Kind of speedy for this course. I am from the Midwest and I am used to golf courses being lush. This course might be coming out of winter and was not lush or beautiful. Also? The fairways were hard as a rock, Perhaps that is the truth of Texas golf courses

The course was in great shape. The course was well marked.

Challenging from the tee to the green. The course will reward if you manage to land on the fairway, but even in some of those fairways, trees will make you think twice your next shot. Par 3’s are WOW

The course needs about two-three weeks and it will be exceptional. The course had still not grown back from the winter and it has been a very harsh winter in south Texas this winter. The course was extremely wet, even on the hills. Would not hesitate to go back, just not so early in the season next time.

This course allowed one to play almost all your clubs. The layout of the course was nice. The greens were difficult to read. The staff was friendly but the pace of play was slow. The round took over 4 1/2 hours. It would have been beneficial for the marshall to speed up play. Conditions were difficult due to the wind, but people were acting like JB Holmes as if a tournament was on the line before they hit. Not much of a clubhouse for a course which is normally charging $75 per round.

I have been looking forward to playing Falconhead for a couple of years. My last trip to Austin did not allow time to play there and several golfers recommended it. The course did not disappoint. Wide fairways were a welcome site for this rusty MN golfer. Generous greens that were a bit slow, but rolled true. Staff was friendly and welcoming.

Worth a visit if you are in the Austin area. Course in super condition. Great staff. Some very interesting holes with steep elevation changes. Hard to pick the right Club in high wind. Greens impossible to read first time out. Our foursome racked up way too many 3 putts.

With a 4-star rating, I had high hopes for the course at Falconhead. I will say the staff were very friendly and helpful, making for a good start. I also enjoyed the maiden voyage of their new carts, which I was surprised to see were gas powered. I spent an hour at the range/practice area. At the range, the tees were on mats, but these were in good condition. The range runs slightly downhill, so with the tee boxes at the back (and a few mounds along the range) it was difficult to see where balls landed, making it difficult to judge shot distances or to see where balls ended up. The pitching and putting greens were good sized with enough elevation changes to allow for a good variety of practice shots/putts.

The course conditions were just average. Tee boxes were level, but had clearly seen a lot of use. Fairways were brown (I am told this is normal for this time of year.) but well mowed. There were practically no bare spots, but more than the usual number of unfilled divots. Greens rolled true and were slightly on the slow side, with only a few, un-repaired ball marks. The sand traps were nicely raked (even in the afternoon); the sand was dry and fluffy but a bit shallow. The course offered only a moderate challenge from the blues, mostly from bunkers that were plentiful. There were only a few holes that required much thought from the tee other than “grab driver/hit long.” There is only one and 1/2 forced carries. (I don’t think the 15th counts.) I played by myself, starting at 12:30 and finished in 2.5 hours.

All-in-all, it was an enjoyable day of golf, but did not live up to my expectations for a course with a 4-star rating.

Best course in Austin for the price. Conditions good and maintained well.

Staff knew I was a GolfNow Hot Deal and they were very gracious and inviting to the point they checked up on me a few times during my round to make sure I was enjoying myself. The course was in great shape, challenging from the blues, but not impossible. I’m 62, a 25 HC, and not the longest hitter, but still feel as though the scoring opportunities were within reach. Finished the last 4 holes of the front nine par, par, birdie, par, so I was very pleased with that part of the round! My advice would be Falconhead makes a great outing choice for anyone. Enjoy!

Challenging course. Ample fairways but smallish greens. Many of the greens are elevated, and I’m not a huge fan of that design.
