Beautiful, Moderately Difficult Course
This course was in excellent shape. It has beautiful fairways and greens. There is difficulty if you do not stay in the fairways.
Good overall course
Course was in good shape. It had a lot of elevation changes and turns that made you play to certain spots on the course. I did play it in the afternoon and at times had to wait on a couple groups in front me as I was playing as a single. The course wasn't too crowded since it's a semi private that costs more than most others in the area which made it nice not playing an over crowded course. Will play again
Thank you u000008162520 for the five star review from your recent visit with Falconhead! We are pleased to hear the course met your expectations. Hope to see you again!
Gotta Go
You have to try it for sure! Layout was amazing and the fairways and greens were close to immaculate especially considering the brutal hot summer. Can't wait to go back!
Thank you Mturner71 for the five star review! We are glad your expectations were met regarding course condition. See you again soon!
Thank you andy23566 for the five star rating!
Worse course conditions I have ever played!
We were looking at having a tournament there and possibly joining. I work at a large company in Round Rock Tx with a huge golf community. I explained this to the membership person and he made us a tee time for 842 on Sunday of the 4th. I have never seen such poor conditions on a supposed private course in my life. Most of the fairways had no to little grass. We had to move our ball several feet one way or the other to try and fund grass. There were clumps of unkempt wild grasses and weeds thru out the fairways and even around the greens. Around several greens we thick patches of dead cut grass, all dried out obviously it had been just sitting there from a past mowing. Even the cart path were cracked and uneven. This was embarrassing. We could not believe they let this go so bad. We made it to 12. It got worse and we left and went to the car.
I would under no circumstances recommend this dog track. I would never consider membership or bringing my tourney here, even if it was free. The memberships answer to me when he emailed me to follow up and I shared all the above..." maybe you should look at our more high end club, The Hills." I was flabbergasted.
Great layout, super condition
In from out of town, first time playing the course. Will be back.
Thank you jrlosch for the five star review! We are pleased to hear you had a great time at Falconhead. See you again at the course when you visit Austin again!
Falconhead a solid golf course thats no easy test!
Falconhead is part of the many great public golf courses in the great city of Austin. The practice area is extensive and despite the "irons only" on the range, there are plenty of ways to hide your game prior to your round. The course is a fun layout with what seems like so many options to play each and every hole. The short par-4 7th is so fun, and the signature par-3 8th that sits on a rock ledge is beautiful. The greens rolled fast and true all weekend but can be tricky to read where the break is.
The only negative was the clubhouse which is one small room that is both the pro shop and bar/kitchen/hangout area. But it didn't take away from our experience at all.
Thank you zbuechner4 for the great four star review regarding your recent visit to Falconhead! We are pleased to hear the course treated you well and was a fun challenge. Hope you can tee off with us again in the future.
Falconhead
Course is in great shape at the moment, except for the skunk that let loose between #2 & #3 was a great round
Thank you ksticktx for the four star review! We hope the skunk didn't scare you away from visiting us in the future.
Friendliest Marshalls in Count
Marshalls were great. Offering advice, accommodating, addressing players questions/needs etc... Course in great shape. Pace of play perfect.
Thank you schneiderjrs for the five star review! We are pleased to hear you had a great experience at your recent visit to Falconhead. Come back and hit the greens with us again soon!

Not what I expected for the pay
Everything was great until me and my playing partner reached the first green. We paid something around 180 bucks for a two man and expected better playing conditions. They fertilized the greens right before we teed off at 7:30 and gave us no discount despite there being loads of fertilizer all over the greens, kind of like someone dumping sand all over. The course was beautiful, everyone in the shop was helpful and friendly, and I loved the layout. A lot of elevated greens and the par three 8th is a must see, beautiful green hanging over a pond. Great course overall, but the conditions weren't as expected and we paid full price despite having the fertilizer or It would have been 5 stars.
Awful pace of play, mediocre greens
First the good- the staff was friendly and helpful. The layout is interesting with lots of elevation changes. The wind makes the course challenging to play since it every shot is affected. Some traps had good sand, some traps had little sand.
The bad- 5 hour pace of play in the morning on a weekend. Rangers said they were talking with the slow group holding up play but nothing happened. The greens were slow and bumpy. Not what you would expect when paying $89 a round. More like what you would expect at a $35 municipal course. Also, the signature "Guitar shaped" sand traps are rinky dink. The guitar stem traps have different sand than the regular traps and lead to very long bunker shots.
Cancelled My Tee Time and Never Called Me Back
I had a foursome tee time for Friday April 28th at 3 PM. I was called on Wednesday by Gary Goodpaster from Falconhead and was told they could not honor that tee time, although I had booked it 2 days prior, and that I would have to change it. The only other times he offered would not work for my group (and he only offered a couple other options). He then preceded to ask if they could help accommodate in getting a tee time somewhere else in town since it was such last minute notice. I said sure, Wolfdancer was our other option when we decided to go with Falconhead. He said he would call over there and talk to their team and would call me back. HE NEVER CALLED ME BACK. I took the liberty to call because I knew it seemed shady and Wolfdancer was able to squeeze us in at 3:30 PM on Friday.
All in all, I would expect much more from this class of golf course. Scheduling erros and horrible customer service. Beware if you book here, you may get called the day before and then be left with no where to play in town.
*I have played here before and found the staff to be equally as unfriendly on that visit as well.
Horrible conditions - not worth the fee
I was incredibly disappointed at the horrible conditions of the greens, and many of the tees. For their price point, I expected at least smooth putting surfaces but found only a couple of greens that were decent. Several areas on greens were roped off due to problems areas, greens were generally bumpy with tons of unrepaired ball marks, and the collars around the greens were awful. This is not a well maintained course that should be charging $80 per round - save your money in my opinion.
Hello u9775719, Thank you for your feedback. The greens are taking a little bit longer for their spring transition due to winter temperature stresses but we expect the greens to be in better shape than ever this season! Hope you can come back out and tee off at Falconhead with us.
Thank you Beverly1938221 for the five star review! We are happy to hear the course met your expectations and you had a great time. See you again soon!
