Margaritaville Lake Resort, Lake Conroe

The course layout is decent, and the staff is great, all of them. The fairways and greens are getting really bad, to the point that it's almost not worth playing. It's a fairly cheap green fee, so I've overlooked the ball bouncing along the green when it hits the few patches of grass left.

What has gotten worse, and will probably keep me from going back, is the complete lack of course management. I NEVER see the Marshall on the course, and the pace is just ungodly slow. I'm used to having to skip a hole or two here, due to some couple in front of me taking 15 strokes per hole, but it's gotten considerably worse. This last time, it took 2 hours thirty minutes to get through the first 9,and on the 10th hole there was a line of EIGHT carts waiting to play. I saw groups of people driving carts on to the green, crossing fairways to sit and have conversations with other groups in the middle of the fairways etc, and no Marshall. Not once. It's not worth it when you take it all into account. Used to be a fun, inexpensive course to play, but I'd rather spend 120 or higher and go to a well managed club.

Greens are in terrible condition. Mostly mud not grass

$75 for a Friday afternoon round is steep for the quality. First time playing, as our normal course just had greens aerated so looking for an alternative. We bailed after 9 holes, due to pace of play and poor conditions of the course. Greens are all scalped with large patches of dirt, so no true putting to be found. Fringe and fairways not much better. Shocked at the condition with all the rain Houston has gotten recently, as every other course in the area is in great condition. Plenty other options for that price. Layout fairly boring as well.

I have played this course on several occasions and this is the worst condition I have ever seen the greens. Most of them have huge bare spots and what grass is there is in clumps so it is like putting on an obstacle course.

I was impressed with the cost of this round and how the course played. The greens were a little rough, but I can't expect $200 greens for the price I paid. Overall I really enjoyed the course and I would be happy to play it again. The water hazards were really good and created some nice challenges.

Played a round with my son. They let us start thirty minutes early and everything continued to just get better as the day rolled on. Region has had a lot of rain recently, so the greens were a bit washed out and bumpy, but everything else was great including the sand traps and no mud or swamped fairways to deal with. Beverage carts came by three times, perfectly paced. Course's hardscape (cart-paths) could use some maintenance.

Fairways were nice , greens need some better care. I rather pay 75 and play at WFGC greens are on point m Fairways too

My Wife, Grandson, and myself enjoyed a round of golf on Sunday. Pace of play for us was 4 hours 15 minutes. Course was in good condition, fairways had good roll with quality grass, greens a little slow but play true.

This course was in better condition for the money tham any course in 30 miles radius.

I will be back.

Course has decent challenges for all skill levels.

I was pleasantly surprised with this course. I admit my expectations were low; however, the round far exceeded that low bar. For example, for me to enjoy a round of golf, the greens speeds must be consistent from one to the next. Of course, I prefer faster greens, but I will take consistent slow greens over inconsistent fast ones. The greens here were notably consistent, including the practice green. Kudos to the course superintendent.

Course was in great shape. Considerably better than the last time I played here. Only downer was the pace of play because of the two groups in front of us having an outing. Taking pictures on every hole and slowing everyone down. Other than that, really enjoyed the day. Will be back for sure.

Nice course, laid back vibes. I wish they had coolers.

After complaining at Edwin Watts about clover and postage stamp greens at other courses, I made the drive to Margaritaville and was pleased that I did. Greens are professionally maintained, not too much water or sand traps. Pace of play was appropriately quick.

Golf course is in excellent condition. Haven't played here in 15 years because the course was not in decent shape the last time I played. It's definitely gotten better. Price is a bit high still but quality of golf is so much better.
