First time playing course since it became apart of the resort, not sure I’ll be back any time soon main complaint is course condition if you can loose golf balls a foot off the fairway because the grass is too tall there is a problem. A hand full of the putting surfaces have large burn spots and the cart path is like an off road course not a fan especially for the price. Used to be one of my favorites around here
Overall: good
Only like 3 greens needed some attention, which they were treating. I’d say another 2-3 weeks and those greens will be solid. From the tips, it seemed long though it was kind of soggy with recent rains. We went off first so it was open - finished in 2hr 40min. Fun layout! I’d play it again, especially once those few greens continue to improve. First time out and shot a 79!
Great course except pace of play and greens
So much potential at this course. Scenic course with a good amount of water. Resort amenities are great. But greens were more burnt out than any course I’ve ever played on. Not talking about a bit of yellow grass on some greens green. I mean hard mud/zero grass on significant portions (10% to 30%) of nearly every green. Yes it’s Texas summer, but something is wrong here. Also pace of play was brutal. 5+ hours waiting on nearly every tee box. They need to manage pace of play better.
Really expected better conditions
Love the layout and staff. Conditions were not worth the money. Tall patchy fairways and spotty greens. Maybe worth half the price but not what they charge. I get it, it's a Margaritaville property, but it's definitely NOT in Margaritaville prices condition.
Excellent staff
My only feedback was that they had us sandwiched between 2 foursomes and the pace of the play was extremely slow. 7:20 start and 12:30 finish. We let 2 singles play through. But otherwise we were waiting to shoot every shot. May have been more on the foursome in front of us than the course. Just seemed to be booked odd compared to other courses I've played.
This course has some great features
My wife and I went out and played 18 holes at
4 pm in the evening was hot but as time progressed it got a little cooler. The course was in good shape everything had been mowed. Looks like they finally got the new carts in as well.
Abomination to the Game of Golf
This course was sadly the most rundown and poorly kept golf course I have ever played in 15 years of playing. The bunkers were destroyed by flooding because simple maintenance was not done at the right time. The green were so poorly kept putting was not fair. The fringe had foot high Augustine grass and other random weeds.
I asked a person who worked there why the course was in such bad shape and they stated they had three lower downs. Well, I didn’t see one person working on greens or doing any maintenance and we were the first tee time of the day. I also know that money is not an issue because when we checked in I was told it was a full tee sheet for the day.
DO NOT PLAY HERE. You will have and play a more fair game of golf playing cowboy style in the middle of a field.
Someone needs to be fired for negligence or fraud because this was insanely bad. Also, the crappy range they have it costs $10 for a small bucket of FIFTEEN BALLS. The worst experience of golf I have ever had and sadly this course has so much potential to be great but it seems incompetence, greed or both is rampant within management at this course. It should be shut down.
Greens are shocking
They course needs closing to allow the greens to recover. I expect it has been due to rain/flooding. They are shockinky bad… they will completely ruin them if the don’t…
Thank you for your comment, many of our surrounding area courses have not been able to open due to this years storms. We still have work to do but we are confident your golfing experience is getting better with each passing day.
Poor Maintenance
Needs more attention to bring it to a value destination.
Not Good
Not a good course. Not in good condition and pace of play is atrocious
Poorly Maintained/No Marshall
I received a low rate from GP so I tried the course a second time in six months. Course is poorly maintained, fairways not up snuff. The rough is just unmowed weeds. Easy to lose a ball 5ft off fairways. Disappointed. Not sure who is giving 4’s! Playing a different course than I did.
Thank you for your comment, we would appreciate a small bit of grace as we received our yearly rainfall in just a brief few months. As most can expect many areas of the golf course are unable to be mowed as we would have created more damage than good. For consumer knowledge we do have a warm up area before your round and our range baskets include 30-45 balls per basket. We do appreciate your comment and know the course conditions are improving daily without rain in the forecast.
