About Moody Gardens
Moody Gardens is a large resort and attraction area with a hotel, conference center and 18 holes of golf in the coastal town of Galveston, Texas. It is well known for its three pyramids home to an aquarium and rain forest attractions. It has not only an onsite waterpark but is next to Schlitterbahn as well. There are six dining concepts, as well as a spa and fitness center. It's within easy access to historic downtown Galveston, Pleasure Pier and the beaches. The golf course originally opened in 1989 but was totally redesigned by Peter Jacobsen and Jim Hardy in 2008. This watery layout features scenic views of the gulf, bridges and bayous, and the back nine plays alongside the small Galveston airport. The course is links-inspired with gulf breezes and wall-to-wall paspalum turf. Historic Galveston is less than an hour's drive from downtown Houston, making Moody Gardens a popular day trip destination as well as for weekend vacation getaways.Facts

Mosquitoes, mosquitoes, mosquitoes
Would have been a great course without those nasty mosquitoes.
There are like 30 mosquitoes around and on. I managed to kill at least 50 of them, but still got several bumps on my hands, face and neck.
Mosquito spray helped a bit.
Definitely won’t go again.
Skeeters
Love playing at Moody but the mosquitos almost made it unbearable. Cart path only day with all rain on Friday so walked which made it worse. Course was in great shape considering and thankfully the mosquitos eased up later in the day. Always have bug spray.
wide variety
Many different tees present many different challenges. On the whole, there is no altitude change at see level, so it can be challenging to see where the fairway goes.
Good greens, and really unique grass.

Moody Gardens
The course is wide open with only water hazards to worry about. Everything was smooth until #17. Sadly, the marshal had just been around. 2 foursomes (lead foursome waited for the second foursome) decided to all tee off together on the par 3. And they took forever. Now 8 people putting and chipping. What a mess. Our foursome skipped the hole as we weren't going to wait 20 minutes. We paid the same as the eightsome but they must be more special than us. The pin placements were a little interesting as many were on the top of a ridge which made it like putt putt golf on some holes. The last thing were the mosquitos. Bring bug spray. They will eat you alive. I would say that nature cannot be controlled by the golf course but, it can. The ponds could be sprayed.

Please do something about the tee boxes!
Course was in decent shape everywhere but tee boxes. The black tees we played had very little grass, & what was there was primarily weeds. Greens were great, everything else good, but the black tee boxes were terrible. Please do better.

Great just Great
The course is always in great shape. Greens fast but tricky sometimes. The staff is always very helpful in any way possible. The traps are always racked and fluffy. The cart girls polite and very thoughtful. The practice areas are great for any level of playing. The tee boxes very to make it a challenge for any level player. I find it hard to say anything about this course on the negative side. Come try it out for yourself and you will see what I mean!

Great Public course
I played Friday and Saturday in my 1st trip to Galveston.
The pace Friday was excellent and Saturday wasn’t too bad with a 9am tee time. The course is beautiful and very well maintained. Clean, green fairways and near pristine greens. Very manageable course for any player and definitely a great chance to score well. I look forward to returning!

Great conditions
Even though the weather has been very hot and dry the greens and fairways were in perfect shape

GolfNow Sucks
After booking and prepaying for 3 golfers for $77 each we arrived at the course and learned it was ladies day. Our female participant in our group would only have paid $36 at the course. Additionally, our senior would have only paid $50 at the course. GolfNow caused us to pay $68 additional. The pro shop advised us that there was nothing they could do to rectify the overcharge and suggested that we make our reservations directly with them in the future. This was good advice I’ll follow from now on.
