Beautiful course
Great staff and course. Greens and aprons were immaculate and rolled true. Tee boxes looked just like the aprons around the greens. No problem finding a level stance. Did not eat there, already had eaten. Tight course, take plenty of balls if your wild with your driver as you cannot go after your ball if you hit into the dunes. The dunes are pristine and they want to keep it that way. I don't blame them as they are beautiful. You will have no problem finding a tee length that will challenge you. There are 5 options.
out for a day
There were four of us playing, paired up my wife and I against two other men. We were ahead by one on the first 7 holes, then I started to fall apart. My wife was a big help. We lost by 4 strokes. The weather was very nice and fresh especially on the holes by the gulf. We enjoyed a few drinks at the outdoor patio. Was a wonderful day away from the office.
Good
Overall was good. However I paid $9.00 more than posted because of taxes.
Great place to play!
I love this course! It's in great condition and the greens are super fast! Bring lots of balls because it's a tight course. The new restaurant has awesome food!
Play 36
There should be a better bargain if you want to play another 18 and there are plenty of tees times available.
great golf course
Give the team at La Palmilla Beach Golf Club every star you have, from the moment we arrived until the moment we left every detail was perfect. Course is in perfect condition, greens very receptive, carts were solid, new clubhouse is beautiful. Your staff is top notch and made for very enjoyable time. We will be back just as fast as we can get everyone together again.
Challenging Course
I've played here over the years and the new owners have made a huge difference. Course is in the best shape since I've been playing so bring your A game!
Overpriced & maintenance issues
Been playing this course for several years & it is disappointing. The greens which were the best I've ever played are now slow & not true as before...weed patches dot most every green.
Fairways used to be lush from tee box to green, now there are,
dare I say "hard pan" areas on most fairways. Not standard for $90 courses. Troon needs to get their maintenance together, or allocate more water for fairways. $50 course now days.
Palmilla Resort
Not that great for the money. Rough needs a lot of work. The course is just shaggy which is unacceptable for a $90 green fee.
Great course
Our second time playing. Wish this course was in San Antonio. Well kept. Super greens. Beautiful views. Challenging yet playable.
Palmilla Golf Club
the golf course was very good condition. The wind is always in the play. The pace was very excellent.I would come back again any time.
Very Windy Day
The course is in great shape. Too bad we chose a day when the wind was blowing 25+. Had a good time anyway.
May 2014 review
Always enjoy this course. Greens had been aerated the week before I arrived, so the greens were not as perfect as is usually the case. They still putted true, just very slow. Took a lot of getting used to , as they are usually lightning quick. The course was in excellent shape, and there was no crowd as usual. Personnel at the course were very friendly and helpful as usual. the front desk was especially nice. By far the best course in the area.
Excellent, challenging, watch for snakes
Recently played this course with 4 relatives. Pace of play was right @ 4 hours. Things moved along well. Challenging fairway layouts along with a steady breeze add for an exciting challenge off the tee. Correctly placed Tee shots on the par 5's (depending on tee choice and length off the tee) are reachable in 2. Greens were very accepting and very well maintained. Be very cautious to seek arrant shots in the thick rough. Bull snakes and rattle snakes serve as viscious spectators. All in all happy with the round and experience. Definitely will return.
Pamilla Beach Golf Club
I really enjoyed the the course. The narrow fairways made you hit straight. Rough was a problem due to snakes. Greens were fast, undulating and true. Bunker sand was soft and fluffy.
Staff very friendly, got discount golf. won't pay full price to play course.
Good condition for time of year, wouldn't pay full price to play course. look for discount. would try again with discount.
Good course, inflated price
Played 18 mid-week on Hot Deal. This was great bang for my buck with the course in pretty decent shape and far from crowded. The greens were the only thing that could have used improvement. They were not overplayed but mismanaged. The vast majority of imperfections on the greens are from previous hole locations that were dead around the edges and ground under repair not properly marked. To be fair, this problem was not egregious but mild. The greens were still well above average and rolled tight. The fairways were in great shape, mowed tight with great undulation.
The most important thing to realize about this course is that the rough eats balls. If you hit off the fairway, finding your ball is an extreme long-shot. That being said, I didn't feel that any of the fairways were unfairly narrow. If you are one who is used to playing from 5 feet off the fairway and just recovering, this is not the place for you.
Finally, I say that it was great bang for my buck with a hot deal. I'm a local and the ocean view/ experience in the dunes is lost on me. The standard $70-$100 greens fees are probably in line for someone who is wowed by the beach on the horizon but compared to the other local courses, a round at Palmilla Beach without the scenery is probably worth $45-70 (spring prices).
Great Course
One of the best courses ever played. Bring extra balls, but if you keep ball in play you can score on this course.
Course is challenging
The course has heavy growth on the side of all fairways. All holes are numbered well and it is easy for a first time player of this course to get to the correct hole every time.
Under new ownership
The golf breeze always factors in the score. New owners are showing improvements this season in the clubhouse and facilities.
