Normally Falconhead is always in great condition and it’s a great day. Today it was pretty terrible. The greens are in AWFUL shape. Yet they still charge you the same green fee. There were mini sand traps on more than half the greens. They look like they were aerated with a tractor plow. There was almost no sense in trying to reading putts. Very disappointing. On top of that we finished the front nine in 2 hours and 5 minutes…would have been faster but a twosome held us up for the first 3 holes and finally let us pass. When we walked off the 9th green we were chastised by an old crotchety marshal for “holding people up and being WAY behind the pace of play…the closest group behind us was 2-3 holes behind. When I told him we had played the front 9 in just over 2 hours and there wasn’t anyone behind us he didn’t apologize or recognize his mistake, he stuck to his guns and said, “well your still way behind the pace of play and you need to speed up.” What a joke. We paid $100 bucks to play this course and expected a $100 course. We got a $40 course at best. Get your **** together Falconhead. We won’t be back anytime soon. Too many nice courses around here that have significantly nicer greens and staff and don’t cost as much.

Falconhead is a nice course. Rain has been good - so fairways are in very good condition. Greens are bumpy because of a recent aeration. While overall condition is good because the abundance of water. There are quite a few areas that require attention in the fairways (clearly indicated as ground under repair) . However some other areas like photos attached don’t seem to be catching the attention of the course manager. A person came by to refill our sand holders without a request. I liked that gesture very much so everyone gets committed to repair divots.

I enjoyed the course overall. The pro shop staff and starter were all very nice. Fairways and rough were in very good condition. Greens and collars were bumpy and had a lot of rough patches under repair. Plenty of water on the course and saw the cart girl at least 3 times. Fun layout but would be very rough from the tips. No gold tees today so played the blue and it was very fair and enabled me to hit all the clubs in my bag. Pace was pretty decent. I would definitely play this track again!

Tee boxes and greens were good. But many areas around the green or on the fairways need water desperately or there is damage due to someone going off the cart path and trashing the grass. This course is still very playable but just a year ago it was exceptionally well maintained and now if you look hard and objectively you will see they are slipping.

Full Disclosure: I’m a member and I play the triumvirate of the Magnolia Group courses, and Falconhead is by far my favorite. It’s like going out to the Monterey Peninsula, and playing Pebble Beach, Spanish Bay, and Spyglass, and already knowing which one is best. Falconhead does not rate with those 3, but it’s clearly the best daily fees course in this community. I did find the greens to be a bit spotty…I don’t know if that’s from the rain or humidity or just a miss by the greenskeeper, but they were still an 8 on a 1 to 10 scale. They’re usually faster and a bit more even somehow, not sure how to describe it but well worth the money. Fairways were perfect, the traps were wet from the day before, and very, very difficult if not unfair to manage. The pin placements were dubious at best, almost as if someone was trying to make the course unnecessarily harder than it is. I don’t understand why, on the heels of a heavy rain, put the pins on the downwind holes on the front of every hole. It detracts from the design, and is not cute. If you wanna be cute, go to Lion’s. Honestly, I had an old & dear friend from 50 years ago drive over from Houston to play and it’s silly to set flags on the edges of downslopes when the traps haven’t been worked, are packed and wet. It’s just not cool. If you’re having a bet with someone to see who can set the worst pins, you won. The course is hard enough if you set every flag in the middle of the green, few would get close to par., so what’s the point? The staff was great, the food excellent, cart service excellent, and the course wonderful except for the little sideshow someone is running. Love it. My buddy, a teammate of Payne Stewart’s in high school, was +2 for the day and I was plus 10, playing from blue tees.

Course in great shape, greens a bit scarred with old repaired ball marks but putt true, starter was grumpy and not too friendly, pro shop staff super!!

Great course to play on, great conditions and offers challenges.

Not easy but not hard enough to ruin your day. Definitely worth it to try it out.

Greens need another few days to heal from punching. Otherwise course is in great shape.

Course in great condition, not sure what the complaints about the greens where for. The only thing is the members need to fix their ball marks on the greens. Otherwise they were smooth and fast. If u have the means...it's worth it.

there's a massive building project going on all around Falconheads perimeter. It is changing the character of the golf course. But the big problem is with the greens. They're not as good as many municipal golf courses anymore.

This is the second time I play this course. Was very disappointed this time over course condition. Not worth the green fees. Fist time I played this course last year it was in great shape. Treated my nephew for a round this time but not what I expected.

I use to play here 10 years ago, It was one of the best kept courses in Austin/Lake Travis area. We played here because the course was always kept up, greens, tee boxes, flower gardens. etc.....

Now its looks like someone dropped a bomb, bunkers are crap, tee boxes look like a cat litter box, what a major disappointment, I'll never come back.

They shouldn't charge you play here,........
