Tapatio Springs Hill Country Resort
About Tapatio Springs Hill Country Resort
Tapatio Springs is a modest-sized resort in the small Hill Country town of Boerne, located north of San Antonio. The 18-hole golf course, formerly 27 holes, underwent an extensive renovation and redesign project at the hands of Tripp Davis in 2015 to create an updated experience for golfers. Off-course amenities at this resort include a brand new clubhouse, home to the La Cascada Table & Bar, a social hub for the resort and local community. Owned by musician George Strait, the property features a singer-songwriter live music series on weekends.Facts

Really hope the greens get under control
Overall the course is in good shape when it comes to fairways and tee boxes. Greens are another story. Several have small dead spots, others have large spots and a few you can tell are being repaired with sod from the chipping green. Not sure if I have ever played anything over $100 a round with greens in this shape.
Staff were great. Food was good and the beverage cart was around plenty of times based on the splits with front nine and back nine.
I really enjoy the pace of play. And the course is a hill county gem with a fantastic practice area. Wish the greens were better.
Disappointing
Greens suck. Vibe is basically they don't care because they're more focused on the resort side of things.
take your money and time elsewhere
greens were some of the worst ive seen in texas. this course has such amazing potential being in the hill country with some amazing views (the only reason i'm giving 2 starts) but c'mon guys.... get your stuff together over there or sell it to a company that will actually put time and money into the course. potential is there.... the execution is not.
i feel bad for anyone that books a trip there with hotel... having to play that course with the greens the way they are.... i'm sorry.
"coming back from winter".... is the excuse i got from the clubhouse. they should get our more, theres some pretty amazing greens all around texas right now.
Greens are in disarray
Nice area but the greens are a lame excuse of a golf course. Always excuses from them as well.
Not worth playing even if it was free!
Every single green is completely trashed. I don’t know what happened, but it’s bad. The rest of the course is in good shape, but the greens are totally unplayable. Do not waste your money! AGAIN, NOT WORTH IT IEVEN IF IT WAS FREE!
Great Layout and Challenging Course
Played on 4/17/25 Great Layout and Challenging Course only thing is that the greens are in horrible shape lots of dead spots, bare patches, very bumpy and not manicured at all other than that Great food in the clubhouse and staff is friendly will def come back to play because I enjoyed the challenges the course presented.
TapatioYea!
Weather was not our friend. Course is tight fairways. Which always makes for a challenging course. Greens were getting worked on (we were told upfront). I had a great round and will play again.
Staff was very helpful and accommodating.
Looking forward
I’m looking forward to when the course improvements are completed. Greens are currently in pretty rough shape as they are being reseeded. That said, Tapatio always has been a great course with just the right amount of challenge to make for a great round of golf.
Fun course, bad greens
Great layout and friendly staff. The greens are in horrible shape but the course is fun. Talked with a staff member and asked what happened to the greens and was told that it was just from age. He stated they are in the process of getting new greens within a few years. Im not sure what full price is to play but I’d be hesitant to pay. If you’re looking for a course with beautiful hill country views and not worried about green conditions then it will be an enjoyable experience.
Beautiful views 30 mins from San Antonio
Everything was excellent except the condition of the greens. GolfNow hot deal was $79 and it was well worth it.
Great course, will be even better when thr greens heal
Loved the layout of the course, will be fun when the full spring hits and everything blooms. Greens were crap, looks like frost damage but starter said they should be 100% back in mid May. I'll likely be back for another round once the greens recover but it was putting on lots of sand and bumpy weeds
Greens are in bad shape
I've played this course a number of times and the layout is great as always BUT, the greens right now are in horrible shape!! Like putting on Kevin Durant's head right now! That's the only bad thing I can say about it but the rest of the course was great.
Tapati-NO :(
So sad to see this course in such rough shape, the greens specifically. This course used to be one of the best in the surrounding area, definitely can’t say the same anymore. I know it’s still technically a “resort”, but this course doesn’t warrant “resort prices” anymore, it is very much overpriced. 2 weeks ago, our cart couldn’t go up any hill without severely jerking because the battery was dying. Then, a couple days ago we had a random grey cart with no more GPS on the carts so that was disappointing as well. On a positive note, the hill country views are still picturesque & that’s pretty much what you’re paying for nowadays.

Tapatio New Management
I have played Tapatio since 2017 and had not been back since the fall of 2024. I was disappointed in the golf course condition. I realize this is early spring 2025 and precipitation is sadly lacking. Nonetheless, I will continue to support my community’s golf course.
They should be embarrassed
I just moved to San Antonio and kept hearing nothing but great things about this track. $114 round after GN fee, standard rate for a respectable course, but the greens were HAMMERED. 45% of each green was dead dirt covered in fertilizer sand, 45% crabgrass and 10% grass. The course layout was a lot of fun. If the greens were pure I would come back again and again. But just wasting money with those green conditions. Greens keeper and course pro should be ashamed of themselves.
