Great views, variety, and woods
I generally play Port Ludlow once a year. The design is excellent, with great variety among the holes, and the aesthetics are fine -- it is quiet, the woods are close but not too close, and there are occasional great views of water and beyond. The course is well maintained, and the staff is very friendly and helpful.
Had a lot of fun
Port Ludlow is a great course for all levels. The course is in great shape and the carts have GPS. I have played here a few times and it never disappoints. I would recommend this course to anyone looking for a challenge. There are lots of elavation changes and offers a different feel on each hole.
Beautiful views and great layout
My favorite course in the Pacific Northwest. Great course design, amazing views, and well maintained greens. Surprisingly low green fees for a course of this caliber. Highly recommended!
Original Pacific Northwest Golf
Golf in the Puget Sound, in its truest formation, can be defined by a round of golf at Port Ludlow Golf Course. Everything you could want in an original Pacific Northwest design can be found here, with character that can rarely be found anywhere else on the West Coast. Narrow forested routing, moderate topography changes that are managed with ease, and large putting surfaces with numerous hole locations that can change the way each hole is played. Course designer, Robert Muir Graves, spent over half his career in this part of the country, bringing us Black Butte Ranch, Canterwood, and Meadow Springs among so many others. As one of his earliest attempts at golf course construction, he carved out a fair, yet thought-provoking layout that plays the same as it did the day it was finished in 1975. Port Ludlow is an original Pacific Northwest destination, and in less than two hours from Seattle, can provide you with a golf experience that is as entertaining as it is beautiful.
Perfect Fall golf
A beautiful Sunday to walk nine holes with my husband after watching the Seahawk game! The course is still fast thanks to dry weather. The good aeration rate made this the perfect deal.
Greens had just been plugged and only partially sanded but the plugs were scattered around the greens and all over the approach on many of the holes. This prevented any ball run up using the approach. Most traps were in poor condition and full of debris.
Course was in overall poor condition.
ludlow
This is one of the best courses on the entire Olympic Peninsula.
The greens were just punched which is not an indication of the usual condition which is absolutely amazing !
If you never played this course it will challenge you as it is intriguing and very difficult . The back nine is my favorite with holes 15 1617 and of course the uphill 18 been in major challenge , you will not be disappointed ,enjoy!
Thank you for this review- the course is in great shape and the best on the Peninsula.
Round September 13th
My front nine wasn't too bad. However my back nine was giving me a lot of trouble. Not a very good round, but that happens sometimes. Still had fun.
Terrible course management
This was a slow round already when a single jumped in on 10, I called the pro shop to let them know-and to express how frustrated the 2 groups who were already stacked up on 10 tee.
Pro shop decided it was not important enough to them to pull the tee jumper off the course.
This made a long round much longer, poor, poor decision by the management to punish those of us who made tee times and followed the rules.
Rediscovering Port Ludlow
I had forgotten what a great layout this is. And all of the work restoring it to its former glory has paid off. The whole course is in great shape, and the greens are as good as any country club. Firm, fast, fair. You have to work the ball both ways around the trees. And if you play from blue or black, it's a beast. It is well worth the extra drive from Kingston ferry...unless it's Sunday afternoon, in which case you might want to play Whitehorse instead
The resort has a great stay and play package. Highly recommend including Port Ludlow in your Olympic Peninsula rota!
Nce course, but play was extremely slow.
I enjoy playing the course, but the last 2 times pace of play has been slow. Today was the worse, with the round taking 5 hours and 40 minutes. We had to what on every hole and every shot. If the course isn't going to put a marshal out, they need to increase the tee times to 10 minutes.
Port Ludlow Golf Links is not a links course, but it is one of the most beautiful courses you’ll ever see
From the first moment I laid eyes on this emerald green Pacific NW classic I knew I’d found my spot in Washington.
The course is up and down, carved through a lush forest of giant cedar and fir trees, and it really makes you think on every shot. The fairways are lushious, and you’ll take huge perfect divots with every iron shot. And, the greens are in excellent condition, and they can be very, very tricky to read, especially for first time players.
Before you play Port Ludlow, be sure to read the pro’s playing tips on their website, because every hole slopes in one direction or another, that’s not always obvious from the tee box. And, without local knowledge, you can easily find yourself in the trees or in a lake when you thought you’d hit a perfect tee ball.
Port Ludlow is my favorite course in Washington, and it’s a terrific bargain too, especially late in the day when you can book a tee time for 18-holes on GolfNow for just $25, including cart. I’m sure you’ll love it too, but don’t be surprised if this deceptive little gem kicks your butt the first few times you play it.
Great Views
Great views while playing on a really nice golf course. Very good conditioned fairways and greens. We love the place.
Course in great condition.
We had not played the course for many years and
booked it for our Anniversary. We got there very early because we had not idea what the traffic would be.
They got us right out which was so nice.
We enjoyed the course very much and would highly recommend it to our friends.
Port Ludlow
We had a fun 18-hole round and look forward to playing Port Ludlow again. Besides being a well-maintained golf course, Niblicks Café is tops! Also the staff is friendly and helpful.
Greens are lighting fast. Fairways good too
Greens are lighting fast. Fairways good too. Good deal via golf now that’s the same cost in shop. Enjoyable layout. Look out for 18!!!! Would play again for sure. I’m from Jersey and used Golf Now to pic scenic course outside Seattle. Perfect. Took Bremington ferry to Seattle next day. Highly recommend
Port Ludlow again
Another great day. Even though full sheet barely any wait time. Wind had blown tree seeds all over greens but wasn’t a big issue. Recommend this Hot Deal when available at lowest price.
Thank you for this review- glad we could be part of your Seahawk Sunday!! Maybe 18 this Suinday since its a bye week???
