About The House on the Rock Resort
The House on the Rock Resort dates to 1945 when Alex Jordan began building the house that provides amazing views and showcases collections of the exotic, the unusual and the amazing during tours. Guests can stay in rooms at the inn, home to a submarine-themed indoor pool, or in the 80 suites at the resort. Golfers have 27 holes to explore. All three nines – the front, back and north – feature at last one water hazard. The resort serves as the main hub with the 400 Springs Restaurant and a spa.Facts

Find a deal if you can
No driving range, course used to be the best in SW Wisconsin. With new ownership has come poorer quality with terrible sand and burnt out greens. Paid $100 for 18 holes with a cart. Find a better deal, this course is not worth the $100 green fees.
First Time Here
We enjoyed the course. Unfortunately, we had a very slow party ahead of us, so it took way too long to play. Will definitely come back but when it is not on a busy Saturday!
Hidden Gem
Course Layout is long and challenging. No GPS on Carts. Fairways are in good shape, rough a little long & Greens had some brown spots may be due to lack of rain/watering. Wildlife is plentiful; deer, birds & butterflies.
Always a good time, greens a little burnt up
The Springs Course is showing promising signs of recovery. After a difficult year spent overhauling the irrigation system, the conditions have noticeably improved, and the new fleet of Yamaha golf carts is a welcome upgrade. As always, the staff is incredibly friendly, and the beverage cart service was excellent in keeping us hydrated during the heat. While the course is on the right track, it was frustrating to have the grounds crew operating heavy equipment, mowers, and trimmers directly in our path throughout the front nine during our 11:00 am round. Fortunately, the staff was happy to accommodate our request to play the North Nine for the second half of our day, which was in excellent condition and proved to be a great test of golf.
Hidden Gem
If you haven't golfed House on the Rock course, it's well worth the drive and the money. Challenging yet forgiving for us weekend warriors. Staff is very friendly.
We were surprised that they recently had aerated the greens without much top dressing so the holes were very exposed any really effected our putting.We should have been told that they just had aerated the greens
Once great, now needs some TLC
Have played here for decades and love the setting. Unfortunately, every year the conditions deteriorate. Bunkers were largely dirt, trees are overgrown, and some of the greens/tees are in rough shape. Still enjoyed the round, but recalibrate expectations if you've been here before.
Beautiful place, amazing scenery
Beautiful place to play, amazing scenery, greens could be patched up a little bit but other then that it’s a great course
Not a bad alternative to some of the other courses in/around Dane County, especially if you can get a good rate
Pace of play was terrible with a bunch of guys celebrating someone's birthday. That's fine but that's no reason not to be mindful of those behind you piling up.
