Great greens
Great place. Great greens. Challenging greens. Variety of golf holes. I will continue to drive 2 hrs several times a year to play here. On par with a Lawsonia Links course and Troy Burne.
Excellent Course Give It A Try
This is probably the fifth time I have played here. Every time the course has been in great shape. It offers an incredible variety of holes. It's also the type of course that you need to play more than once because some of the holes have blind approaches and you will get to a green only to find it is not what you thought. It offers pretty wide fairways but it is also pretty demanding with regards to ball placement.
Amazing....
As good as a public course as you ll play for under $75 anywhere in America. Diabolical greens and pin placements. Tons of various elevations. Fair but tough. It was a magical experience. Was happy with back 9-43.
Greens
Greens had just been top dressed. No mention of this when making reservations.
Played as part of a Hot Deal through Golf Now. Well worth that price but resort area pricing from region influences normal pricing! Nice course! 4 hours and 20 minutes to complete the round! Did have a single join with our twosome on course! Had a good day, but tough course and some tough pin placements!
Course condition
Greens were in phenomenal shape. Straight forward course with challenging greens
A favorite course!
The Wild Rock golf course is a gem. The layout is scenic and challenging. Today the pin placements where really punitive. The greens where not in as good a condition as past years...perhaps affected by the hot humid weather of late. The staff are really friendly and helpful. I was nice that the twin fawns posed for a photo next to the cart path.
A Grand Finale
Our buddies trip saved Wild Rock for the final showdown of our makeshift Ryder Cup style golf trip. This course was the most demanding of all the courses we played in the Dells area. The course has so many teeing options we were able to select a variety of lengths to play from.
This course was featured in our Wisconsin Classic Golf Trail which allowed us to play the course on a Sunday, for $65. With a price point like that, it checked every possible box we could ask for. The value we got for that price is worth getting this book annually for this course alone. The staff was very welcoming and took good care to get us set up out on the course on time. The flow of the clubhouse from Pro-Shop to bar, to range and cart area is very convenient and gets you in and out without much wasted time. The cart attendant was helpful to get us out to the first tee as the trek is quite lengthy, even while riding in a cart. The elevation changes and walks from greens to tee would make this a very demanding walk. With it being the crown jewel of the resort courses in the area, we didn't see many, if any, walkers during our round.
The course itself is built of a very grand scale, from the fairways to backdrops and all the way through the greens. Greens in regulation don't mean a ton here with the size of these greens and undulations throughout. The fairways are generous for the most part, a few holes require a very accurate tee shot, but there is some additional playability. It's tough to pick out the best hole or the most picturesque, as many on the back nine would compete for that title.
When playing Wild Rock, most golfers will know what to expect for the most part and this course and staff will exceed those expectations from start to finish. Although this course beat us up a little, everyone on the trip couldn't wait to get back and play this course again.
Wilderness Resort golf review
The course and playing conditions were ideal. My son in.laws and I enjoyed the actual golf experience. I was surprised to be billed more than the green fees quoted when making the tee times. I made the times using the Wild Rock website and got a confirmation with a confirmation number. Green fees were quoted at
71.00 per player. With taxes it was 75.00. We were charged $95.00 per player at the course. I called after the round and had to send the actual confirmation email because the course does not use the Golf now numbers and had no record of that price. We did get a refund of part of the difference after a number of calls and a visit to the course but we still ended up paying more than the tee time quoted price.
Excellent course
I am an 18 handicap and play a lot and found the course in solid condition and well maintained. The layout is fun, challenging but not impossible by any means. Very fair. All staff were friendly and helpful. A good course for a low handicapper and a high handicapper and the 4 tee boxes give lots of options. My wife played the reds (front tees) which made it fun for her. Also the “19th hole”had good food for afterwards.
This course makes golf fun!
Didn't score very well, but it's hard to be upset when the views of surrounding countryside and the great conditions are so beautiful. Staff was freindly and professional and , although we waited a lot, played in about 4 1/2. Paid $79 for golf, cart, a nice hat, and lunch. Plus, $20 off a shirt. Can't wait to return.
Nice course
The course is long for a shorter hitter, but the biggest problem was very low grass on fairways. I don't take divots so had problems getting the ball up in the air. Nice wide fairways and very big, difficult greens. They rolled nice, though
