About
The Jaguar Course at Yucatan Country Club in Merida was designed by Jack Nicklaus. Nicklaus took full advantage of the rich and diverse landscape covered with ancient archaeological remnants and cenotes, which are underground cavern and river systems that are sacred to Mayan culture. Great care was taken to preserve and incorporate these vestiges of Yucatan's ancient history, making a round on this golf course almost akin to a museum. The layout has a unique design with five par 3s and par 5s each and eight par-4 holes. It is a lengthy golf course at 7,282 yards from the back tees but it is more player friendly than it seems. The wide fairways are forgiving and there is some room for error with the greens but the layout is also routed through eleven different lakes that come into play throughout.
