David R. Holland

David R. Holland is an award-winning former sportswriter for The Dallas Morning News, football magazine publisher, and author of The Colorado Golf Bible. "Multiple careers" best describes this world traveler (he's visited 35 countries), who achieved the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Air Force reserve, serving during the Vietnam and Desert Storm eras. His final Pentagon assignment took him to Monterey, Calif., where he daydreamed a lot below the fairways of Pebble Beach and began thinking about his next move -- travel golf writing. Holland, whose favorite golf moment was teeing it up with former Dallas Cowboys coach Tom Landry, splits his time in Colorado and Texas. He has written for GolfWeek's Superintendent News, Colorado AvidGolfer, Midwest Golfing Magazine, South Central Golf Magazine, Fairway to Green (United Kingdom), Golf Vacations Magazine and many other publications. He also worked for the Dallas Cowboys Weekly, United Press International and the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Holland was owner and publisher of Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex Football Magazine from 1978 to 1991. He has a journalism degree from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas.
