Martinique Golf & Country Club - Empress Josephine Golf Course

Empress Josephine Golf Course at Martinique Golf & Country Club is in Les Troi-Ilets on the west coast of Martinique, an island that offers a taste of France amidst a Caribbean setting. The island was the birthplace of Napoleon's wife so Robert Trent Jones found it only fitting to name his design after her. The layout consists of two returning circuits of nine with the opening hole skirting the coast. The golf course returns inland where a stream meanders across the landscape and there are also a few natural ponds that come into play on the outward holes. The 13th hole brings the course back to the seaside, it is followed by a trio of holes that play across the Caribbean Sea from tee to green. The 15th is particularly memorable for its island fairway that doglegs right into a well protected green perched above the shore.
