Mullet Bay Golf Course

If you’re looking for a fancy country club golf course, Mullet Bay isn’t for you. The fairways are rough and the greens are rocky. But if you’re looking for a great way to spend several hours with a friend enjoying great views, it’s a great value. Many of the things mentioned in other reviews are true; it costs $135 for 18 holes, club rental, and a cart. (They sell black market used balls for $10 a dozen.)

The front nine is definitely nicer than the back nine, so I recommend starting on the back nine if you can and end on the front nine. The back nine will also have random people walking to the beach because it’s alongside a lot of condos. The front nine is very private.

As for why Mullet Bay is in bad shape, apparently it anchored a fancy resort that was devastated by Hurricane Luis in 1995 and now seems to be kept afloat by a handful of locals, who candidly do an admirable job on a likely shoestring budget. But the bones of the course are awesome and you can just imagine how nice it used to be and how nice it could be if a developer came in.

Regardless, if you have the time, don’t pass up the opportunity, rent some 20 year old Wilson clubs and enjoy a beautiful day golfing with views that should makeup for the poor course conditions.

Goat track.... OK, I hate to write bad reviews, however, this place is such a disappointment. It is in need of a large cash infusion to bring it back to where it should be. The layout is awesome and very pretty. The course conditions are weak. Greens are slower than slow with dirt patches and weeds. Cups cannot be changed daily, no way, based on the cup edges being frayed badly. The clubhouse is low rent muni style place. Credit card for greens fees and rental clubs and merch ($90 for greens fee, cart and rental--not too terrible), cash for soft drinks and beer. No food there. The rental clubs are embarrassing. They are a mismatched set, have NEVER been cleaned with caked on grass stains. Greens do not hold due to almost no spin on the ball because the grooves are worn out or covered in grass build up. Its a shame because this place could be awesome...it is not. 4 hr pace of play fortunately.
