Hardened mud on the fairways
The golf course is laid out on flat land like a parade ground. The ball bounces and rolls farther than at most other golf courses simply because the grass is brown and the ground is like hardpan ... like hardened mud.. sometimes with fissures in the dry ground. The design is very basic ..
You can tell that the designer was not a fan of gardens or flowerbeds or nice trees. He wanted a low-maintenance course.
