Great layout Horrible condition
This course has the potential to be exciting and difficult but that difficulty should not be because of the conditions. Every single green has sandy dirt patches. Every tee box was full of weeds and sand. The GPS included in the carts was cumbersome at best. The rates are absurd for the condition this course is in ($149). The rental clubs available are easily over 15 years old and in horrible condition. The greens were running at a 6 and all of the cups had grass growing into the edges of the cup effectively making the hole smaller. It was almost preferable to chip on the greens instead of putting because of the conditions. They booked tee times at 1pm and when you arrive they say all rounds need to be complete and carts returned before 5pm. (4 hour round???). The sand traps looked like they were being worked on but essentially had dirt (no sand) and horrible drainage…. If your ball lands in the trap it is almost guaranteed to plug and disappear in less it landed I. The standing water that 90% of the traps had.
This track has a ton of potential and I believe at one time this was one of the best courses on the island.
The surrounding area is beautiful and has a Jurassic Park feel to it. The course design is absolutely incredible, forcing you to make decisions off of the tee box. Lots of elevation changes will make you second guess your club selection. This course reminded me of seeing a gorgeous sports car on the side of the road without burned out tires and lots of broken glass and scratches all over the body. Extremely unfortunate that it has not been maintained.
