Arthur Hills golf course at Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort in Hilton Head Island, S.C. will test your best

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. -- With water on 10 holes, tree-lined fairways and plenty of doglegs, the Arthur Hills Course is undoubtedly the most challenging of the three layouts at Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort.

Palmettos and mature, Spanish-moss-covered live oaks force golfers to shape their shots around corners or at the very least think their way through the golf course. And although the course is only 6,651 yards from the back set of three tees, it feels like it plays much longer.

There are many highlights on the course. The second hole tests golfers right away with a dogleg left off the tee that opens to an approach that's all carry over water. And because of the trees, reading the wind coming off the ocean can be tricky since it often can't be felt on the ground.
