Nice course
Overall a very good experience. The only thing from making it great was they allowed groups to have 5 people for a bachelor party. By end there would be 4 groups on a tee box.
Solmar is No Bueno
We were really looking forward to playing Solmar and the course itself was great. Unfortunately the staff service could not be more disappointing. And it was across the board.
First we were greeted by a female working in the pro shop was rude and short with my whole crew. I decided not to buy anything there after the was she spoke to us. She obviously didn't want to engage or be helpful and treated us poorly.
Then the bartender making drinks took forever to put together a gin and tonic. Very hard to communicate with him and completing the transaction for two drinks took 20 minutes.
Finally we had a worker approach us while we were about to tee off on the 18th tee box (we had another foursome in our group right behind who just hit their tee shots on the par 3 17th hole). He told us the course was now closed and we needed to leave. We tee'd off at 3pm it was exactly 6:57pm when he approached us. There was plenty of daylight and we played well within our time limit. If anything their bartender held us up with another 2 drink 20 min delay on the turn.
I was told I can finish the last hole if I drive all of the workers home. Unbelievable. There are plenty of great golf courses in Cabo where they will be happy to see you and treat you appropriately. From the very start you could tell they don't want you here.
Windy course as you know it
Knew it was windy but didn’t know it was like 30 mph head on wind. In a way, I think the wind made the slope rating much more difficult. Layout was good but the amenities compared to puerto Los Cabos was way below expectation. With the same amount of money, I think I’d play somewhere else then suffering here. If you like sand dunes and wind, this course is your friend.
Don’t waste your time …
A 40 minute Uber ride to play in 40 mph winds is not fun. And not $300 worth of fun. The Pacific side of Cabo is always windy, but this was insane.
On the positive side, pace of play was terrific and the course staff is nice.
Also, here’s a tip: You have to let the pro shop know to call the guard gate to let in the Uber. That will save you 20 mins and mucho drama.
Wow!
A difficult but amazing golf course! The wind can be brutal but a tremendous place to play!
Wind, beautiful location and well maintained course
There always is wind. Spring is exceptionally windy time of year. Please add glass fronts to golf cart so you don't get blasted with sand.
Also, I did not enjoy having the staff watering the greens during my round.
The golf course personnel are very helpful and the course is fun to play in spite of the wind. I recommend choosing a shorter tee box when very windy. Condition of the course was very good, one of the best in Cabo. Greens were a little inconsistent because of sand or water on them. The comfort stations have limited food choices, but plenty to drink!!!
Stunning
From the moment we arrived, it was top notch service and experience. I can see this being private in the near future, so I would definitely play this course if you are on the fence. Yes, it’s windy for some of the holes being near ocean. But an amazing experience from beginning to end!
Beautiful but too windy
Great course and scenic views on nearly every hole. Really wish it wasn’t so windy. Took away from the experience and really made the price tag hurt that much more. I gambled with the reviews being somewhat 50/50 on the wind. On this day I lost. Other than the wind, everything was 5-star. Greens were slow on the front and picked up speed on the back but always rolled true on both sides. This place was top notch and staff was extremely helpful and courteous.
WINDY
Course layout and conditions were great, however the wind on the Pacific side takes away from the experience...so much so that we have decided we wont' play there again. There was not a cloud in the sky and it was about 80 degrees but I had on two long sleeve tops. So windy it was actually cold. No enjoyable playing in those conditions which are pretty much the norm for that area
Didn't get to play
We were excited to play this course and arrived about an hour prior to our tee time only to find out that the course had just closed. They said there was a bunch of sand that was dumped on the course by a local developer. They mentioned that we would be refunded but I haven't seen a refund yet. They also mentioned they would provide a complimentary round, haven't seen anything about that either. It was a rather disappointing way to spend a day in Cabo.
Cabo’s Best!!!!
My 4th time playing in Cabo, in my opinion, this is nicest of the 4. Great layout, nice condition, friendly staff, 7 am start, played in 4 hours. Bring your own balls& glove.. Decent rental clubs.A little pricey ($390), but overall a nice experience.
Nice Course
The Course was nice, except for this day 4 of the holes were closed. But I was able to play 24 holes during my stay.
BIGGEST ISSUE…the address link in the GolfNow app confirmation email is WRONG!!! It takes you to the middle of nowhere downtown Cabo. It cost me an extra $50 in cab fare to finally get to the course. Good thing it wasn’t busy, so my lateness did not affect my ability to play. Please fix this!!!
A real gem in Cabo
It was our first time playing this track. I was refreshing to play a track that had something other than Bermuda grass in Cabo. The course is right on the Pacific and the views were off the charts. We loved the golf course and the area so much we are thinking of buying a home there.
Absolutely the coolest course
Loved this course. Layout is spectacular. Sand dunes and elevation. Nice comfort stations. And the crew at the front door and on the range were at least first class. The best Valentines gift for my most wonderful playing partner.
Overcrowded golf groups and poor enforcement of basic etiquette
Be aware. This is supposed to be a premium golf club with high end amenities. Green fees are in the $250 - $400 range.
However, this golf course allows golfers to bring non-playing accompanying persons. In my group I had a family of four - 2 players and two non players. In addition to another single. The club is serving alcohol and on top of that the family brought their own. There was after a few holes no basic etiquette. The group before us consisted of eight college kids in four carts who were obviously intoxicated, playing very slowly while playing loud music.
The club is maximizing its revenue per group. There are no efforts to get drunken golfers off the course or to ensure adequate pace of play.
The course is otherwise in great shape with nice ocean views.
