Great views and layout
This course was a nice surprise, great ocean views with the holes set in among the Dunes. Generous fairways and very large greens make this course a bit easier and both were in excellent condition when we played.
The carts have excellent GPS screens, but the only downside, they strictly control where and how fast you can go. It took as a bit to figure out what the cart was telling us. We almost could not get by hole 2, till we drove almost in the rough to get to the cart path, everywhere else, the cart would stop with a warning making you back up.
Overall, it was a great day of golf.
Post Hurricane Golf
We had arrived in Cabo one day after the Hurricane, so our expectations of playing golf were not very high. However this course was open for play so we jumped on it. WE were pleasantly surprised when we arrived and found out our Green Fees included drinks on the course and breakfast before we tee'd off.
The course certainly showed the effects of the hurricane. Especially down by the water where the sand had taken over. The rest of the course looked Awesome. Great Views of the water and coast line here. Wonderful course layout, and the few holes covered in sand were already on the mend. Over all yes a great place to play. I look forward to playing it again this fall.
A Must If In Cabo
We really enjoyed the course and the rest station amenities. I haven't played many courses where they have rest stations with full bar beverages, snacks and food included in your green fee. (No need for a cart girl) The greens were LARGE and in perfect condition. The fairways and tee boxes were very nice too. If you compare the cost to others such as Quivira, Solmar is a much better value. I will play this course a couple times on my next visit.
Lots of Sand!
The course has a fun and challenging layout. We played just 5 days after the hurricane and, on certain holes there was a lot of sand in the fairways
Hurricane did not stop the play.
First time playing here, and was pleasantly surprised when we arrived and found out drinks and food were included in the ticket price. Staff was very friendly, and the course is very nice. Lot's of sand on the course from the resent hurricane made a few holes a little weird, and putting a bit difficult. But we knew that going in. I am actually looking forward to coming back and seeing the course in it's prime condition. Very nice views throughout the course, and much enjoyed the round.
Sept 2023
Was a super fun round during the off season. Beautiful views, great drinks and food (all inclusive), had the course to ourselves, great condition despite off season. Challenging yet fair. Would play again any time!
Course Needs Work. Avoid Playing or Paying High Prices.
This was our second time playing in Cabo, 10 handicap. We were looking forward to playing Solmar. The staff and complimentary food and drinks are all that made the day "worth it." The course was in horrid shape for what we paid...dead grass everywhere, tee boxes gone, greens were heavily punched without notification 5 days before we played and lets just say it was like puttting on the beach next to the course. The hurricane has also made all the cart paths tough to navigate. I would avoid playing here for at least another month until they can get the course back in shape. Really sad to see. Im sure Greg would not be happy either. Lots of construction going on nearby as well.
Solmar
For all inclusive it was just ok , only mixed drinks and beer. Regular drinks also, no shots! That’s not all inclusive, that’s all inclusive with limitations. Course is really nice but no Marshall on duty we played behind two groups and we were bundled up the whole round. Staff is outstanding . I will return. One of the best in cabo!!!!
Visually Stunning, Conditions to be desired
It has some of the most amazing views of golf holes that you could ever want. That being said, the rest is over priced and under delivered. It’s also a little hard to get to.
The greens were a different speed almost every hole and over grown. This made them very slow and nothing like the 3 other courses we played which had nearly perfect greens conditions. They said they have been having problems with them.
Fairways and tee boxes are verti-cut recently and it was definitely in play.
On course food options were premade and not made to order like other courses in the area with on course hospitality stands. There was 2 stands and you did pass them twice each 9, which was great for drinks.
If it wasn’t for the views, this would be a 2 star review at $175 per person to play. I just didn’t feel like the conditions were any better than my local muni at home for $25 at 1pm this time of year.
Great course with excellent and friendly staff
Overall terrific experience - greens slow but not unexpected that they are not as finely cut with the hot conditions being experienced in the area. Staff friendly and attentive to pace of play. Complimentary snacks and drinks a plus - will be back.
Nice course
Was perfect the only issue was that the greens was very slow
Great layout, Slow greens
Course had a great layout and the pace of play was really good at 4 hours. Unfortunately, the greens were very long, grainy and slow. The course was too expensive to have greens in this bad of shape.
Caution
Solmar Golf Links is a young course that needs time to mature. The greens are extremely slow, but run true. The course is beautiful with wide resort fairways. The biggest complaint is their taxi service. I had a private driver who dropped me off, but was refused entry at the main gate of the resort to pick me up. I had to pay $25.00 for their taxi service to drive me to the main gate, approximately 2 miles, to meet my private driver to take me back to my hotel.
Incredible Views on This Challenging Course
Solmar Golf Links is a great experience for Golfers of all skill. While the scorecard slope ratings might make this look like a walk in the park, the persistent winds off the Pacific Ocean provide for a more challenge.
Large greens and generous fairways help keep up the pace of play. GPS in the golf carts is also helpful. Being a new course, there is significant housing developments underway around a few of the holes. However, many holes have great ocean and beach views.
Comfort Stations can be visited 4 times (twice each as you loop around). Selection of food and beverages was good, and friendly staff are there to get you what you want and on your way quickly.
Overall, a great day out, with friendly staff to make it well worth the experience.
Would not let me cxl
I tried calling the course and reaching out to Golf Now to get my tee time canceled. I ended up getting charged $765 the price of two tee times when I did not play the course. The staff only spoke english so it was impossible to get refunded. Do not recommend Golf Now or this course. Their ability to do the right thing is abysmal.
Amazing views.
Not too hard of a course. Spectacular views, very fun to play.
Worth Every Penny!
We played this course in the early afternoon on 6/7/23 & 6/11/23 during a Cabo visit at the nearby Nobu Hotel. We had a great experience both times and offer the following thoughts:
1. Other than staying at Solmar, this is your best golf option from the nearby Nobu or Hard Rock Hotels, (only a 15-minute taxi ride away). This course is also worth the longer trip from downtown Cabo San Lucas or beyond as well.
2. Both rounds were played in sunny but extremely windy conditions (25mph+) that caused the temperatures to be significantly lower than in other parts of Cabo because of the cooler Pacific Ocean temperature. However, the course has multiple tees and generally wide fairways that kept lost balls to a minimum, with large greens to accept shots from numerous angles.
3. The course has a superb variety of scenic holes that play in all directions, from vistas along the coast to elevated desert and ocean views from the inland holes.
4. The real gem of this course if the warmth of the entire staff (in the clubhose, the bag area and throughout the course) as well as the clubhouse bar and (2) superb on-course comfort/restroom stations that can be visited from four different holes during your round (6,8,14 & 17). At each visit, 2 drinks (alcoholic or non) and food/snacks per person are included in the cost of your round....which makes the greens fees an even better value.
We will gladly return during any future Cabo travels!
