The Grand Mayan and Mayan Palace - Vidanta Puerto Penasco

First a shout out to Charlie the bag drop guy.. Always smiling, friendly, and helpful.. Beautiful course and condition. Anyone reading this move up one tee box from your normal. Between the constant wind from the ocean and lush fairways some of the holes can be very long..I’ve been golfing 42 years and this course has some of the best view holes u will find anywhere.. Enjoy!

PS reminder proshop is inside of resort instead of at course because of major storm damage. Need to check in there.

Course was amazing, only hick-up is the pro shop at the course is not open, so we had to drive all the way back to the resort to check in. Still not a big deal but they could have put up a sign or something.

The course was in excellent shape in mid April! Played here 3 weeks ago and the fairways were in transition and a little rough. 3 weeks later and the course was in amazing shape! The staff checking in and the team on the course were outstanding and the service was great top to bottom including the giant burrito's!!!

We had a blast playing this course! Challenging but fun!

Great layout. Beautiful scenery. In good but not great shape. Limited on course snacks.

The course is rated as one of the top courses in all of Mexico and the Caribbean. I don’t know who rated it but this is misleading as it definitely not even close to being a top course.

Other than sandy greens, it was in tip-top shape. Always a treat to play here.

Unfortunately the drive to the course from town was not worth the time. The golf carts were a joke. What you would expect at a $15.00 muni. The tee boxes and fairways were terrible. I will say the greens were in good condition even although they had been top dressed. It is too bad the sea views should have made for a beautiful day. We were a group of 8 and all had the same opinion of our experience. I will not be back and won’t recommend it to anyone.

We played Vidanta Puerto Peñasco back in November 2019 and really enjoyed it. This time not so much. The conditions have deteriorated significantly.

It’s a fantastic layout that is unfortunately marred by next to no maintenance. The greens and fairways are infiltrated with weed grass, the carts are the cast offs from Vidanta's other courses and there are few on course amenities. The partially constructed clubhouse remains partially constructed, the gravel roads and parking lots are still gravel, it looks abandoned and in terms of support from Vidanta it probably is.

If you are are coming from outside the resort and purchased your green fees on Golfnow expect to be pushed aside if there are any resort guests on the tee sheet. We arrived early for our tee time after seeing that there were many openings ahead of us (we called first and we’re told we would be able to advance our time) but when we arrived the starter insisted there were 2 groups ahead of us. We waited about an hour without any groups teeing off. When our tee time was imminent the 2 groups arrived and the cart person and starter tried to load their clubs and hustle them out. The two groups told us that their times were after us and didn’t even want to go ahead so the starter reluctantly let us go (a couple of minutes after our scheduled time).

I would give the Vidanta course a pass in favor of Las Paloma’s which was in much better condition.

Easy check in and nice range to warm up before the round. Course was in very good condition and would be a lot more fun if not for the winds coming off of the ocean. Despite the strong winds, it was a great day. Bring some extra balls, you are going to need them!

The golf carts are very old and should be up graded or replaced. Parking break didn't work half the time twice now. They should also have windshields due to the wind and cold Jan and Feb.

We had a 12:30 tee time. At 4:45 pm, when we were on the 18th fairway, a guy comes out in a cart and tells us we need to leave because they were closing. We asked if we could finish the last hole of our round and he said no! Made us pick up our ball and he followed us out! It wasn’t like it was getting dark. Absurd. The carts are in very poor condition as well. I’m done with this course.
