Jack Nicklaus and his son teamed up to design the course at The Nicklaus Design Course at Vidanta Puerto Penasco (formerly known as Peninsula De Cortes Golf Club and Peninsula Golf Club at Vidanta Puerto Penasco). Half of the layout plays along the Sea of Cortes while the other half wanders inland through native wetlands and desert vegetation. Long hitters will enjoy this golf course, which stretches to more than 7,000 yards. The Nicklaus team designed a challenging layout but the rugged terrain also deserves credit. They utilized not only the natural hazards but also the stunning views, which are as varied as the challenges. Every hole is framed by a backdrop of the desert, mountains, or sea. The signature hole is the par-3 sixth. On this tough hole you'll be met with a series of waterways that sits between the tees and the green complex, where four bunkers are also lurking.

Mexico golf

Course is good but its 40min from town no club house ,very old golf carts , you need a booklet so you know the golf hole layout or a good GPS on a golf cart

Value for money but would not return to play it again

Vidanta golf

Golf course is nicely laid out with plenty of options to make your game more interesting. Views along the sea are incredible. Only complaint was that our selected golf pass rate was in USD and the course would only allow us to pay in MXN pesos where we were totally hosed by the exchange rate they gave us.

We ran into groups of 8 people in one time box twice not sure if they had a small tournament or what but impossible to play could not get past them would have missed 4 holes ????

Tough track

Greens are large with many undulations. Many are elevated and sloped such that your ball runs off if not high enough. Gorgeous holes along the ocean. Wind often a factor.

A hidden GEM !!

The course was an unexpected delight

We have played other Vidanta courses that were much more expensive. Nestled in this non descript desert countryside is a beautiful and very challenging golf course at a very reasonable cost

110% must play

Tee boxes are flat and have plenty of grass ✔️

Rough is lush but not 5 inches deep ✔️

Fairways are well maintained ✔️

Greens roll true ✔️

Bunkers have great sand and are well maintained ✔️

As expected with a Nicklaus course the layout is epic, however you will be penalized for a mediocre shot

so aim for the largest landing area off the tee and always the fat side of the green .

Oh and unless you have a 270 yd carry for number 12 DO NOT play the tips 🤣

Easily worth $150/250 for greens fee but thanks to GolfNow

I paid $38.50 plus 20 bux for my wife to ride along 🤩🤩🤩 in Dec.

The staff is beyond friendly and super helpful .

While Randy the cart guy wasn’t the prettiest cart girl he made awesome drinks

and drove all the way back to the restaurant to get us an amazing burrito that was the size of

two footballs and very tasty .

Normally and often I find a course over sells and under delivers, not here !

I’ll be back next year for a solid week 🤩
