Very Challenging
There is not a straight hole on the course because of all the hazards that cut into the fairways. Sometimes you have to play laterally or away from the hole. The first 9 does not play back to the clubhouse, but there is a halfway house between #8 and #14. Look for the eagles nest on the right side of #14. Music on the practice range, nice touch. Also, look for coupons in local magazines or flyers for discounts.
Underwhelming Ocean City Early Spring Golf Trip
Was looking forward to playing this 'top 100' Nicklaus design. Course layout did not disappoint...Great layout challenging but fair...playing the proper tees is imperative for an enjoyable round....Now the DISAPPOINTING while charging full rate, almost every bunker was under repair and unplayable filled with limestone without sand. Maintenance workers with heavy machinery were working in bunker while golfers played around them???? Also on the first hole while waiting to tee-off a young couple was strolling down the cartpath, even though it was posted no pedestrians allowed...NO RANGERS TO BE SEEN...Finally NO GPS IN GOLF CARTS???? A HIGH END FACILITY LIKE THIS PAYING TOP DOLLAR AND PRIMITIVE CARTS ON A COURSE WITH SO MANY DOG LEGS AND HAZARDS YOU COULD REALLY USE INFO BECAUSE ON GREEN DEPTH...HAZARD DISTANCES...VERY DISAPPOINTING
Golf course
Great place to play. Would refer to any one.
Excellent
What a blast!! Friendly staff, great condition and fun layout. GO PLAY BAYSIDE
Beautiful but Tough
Course is always in very good condition. No matter what tees we use, it is extremely tough. Many landing areas are tight, and sometimes when you hit a good shot for other courses, you lose the ball due to all the wetlands, ponds, woods, etc.
Pace of play horrible
Five hour round is not what you want at a nice course. Person in group in from of us talking on cell phone in middle of fairway while others in group watch. I have never seen anything like it. Golf staff monitoring course did nothing but go home. Will never come again.
Don't go off the course leave all miss hit balls in the woods
I have played this course six times this year. In May I played and had 17 ticks accompany me on the ride home. Last week a got eaten alive by chiggers. For all of the scratch golfers fear nothing, for all the high handicappers "stay on the grass or you will be scratching badly. The problem is so bad the management company should give some warnings. 30 years of golf and I have never seen anything like this.
Challenging Course
My third time playing Bayside, excellent condition even though the greens had been punched maybe 10 days earlier, still worth the $69.....
Challenging course that is usually well maintained
Played this course five or six times as it is the closest course to ocean city north/fenwick island area. I enjoy this course because it is rarely crowded and usually has afternoon tee times. It offers a variety of holes, shot selections, and green undulation. The greens were In great shape and staff were courteous. The price for a morning round wouldn't be worth >$100 to me when you have lighthouse sound and war admiral as close as they are.
Watch out for chiggers in the weeds/fescue areas, but getting was my fault for hitting my ball in them. Also driving range is closed on Tuesdays. Bunkers on many the holes could use some more sand if they can manage that with the wind.
Wow
Great golf experience, the course is long, challenging and beautiful. Will definitely come back, highly recommend!
Velvet
Place is amazing. Greens are tough, Hit the short grass makes it easy to shoot at pins.
A must play
Jack always puts a trap where you would naturally hit the ball
The course was in great condition! Challenging but still a very enjoyable round. The lady in the snack shack was great and made the best orange crushes. The cart girl also came around often. Will come back again soon.
Range closed and food options/water/beverage cart limited.
You know the course is beautiful and challenging. This was a given. It was a great day for golf. But to arrive an hour early and to not be informed ahead of time that the range is closed is a problem for me. Too tough a course to not have an opportunity to warm up and a waste of 45 minutes at the course.
Also - the grill at the turn was closed after the staff told us they were open and there were no water coolers to be found during the last 5 holes until 18. No beverage or snack cart available either and it was a muggy 90+ degrees outside.
The staff did get someone out to us, but that seems like a pretty inefficient business model (but it was appreciated).
Beautiful course - needs some work on the hospitality side of things.
Expensive but worth a treat
Paid $145 on holiday. No GPS. grass range, challenging course. Tricky for first time, generous fairways and undulating greens. few forced carries. greens in great shape.
Water course
I'll know where to place my shots next time. Lost several balls in the water. Fairways in good shape. Greens roll true. Good day out. I would recommend.
PERFECT
I was a single and they paired me with a member and got us out 10 min early. I was striking the ball very well which helped me to enjoy this course to the fullest - it is a ball placement course not a distance course. hazards are placed on numerous fairways however, if you hit where you aim you should be able to manage the course and score. Everything is GREAT shape. greens are challenging so you better know how to putt.
Make sure you stay on fairway.
As long as you hit them straight, you'll be fine, otherwise bring extra balls.
Great experience
Liked the course, friendly staff and friendly players with good pace and respect for others. Course is quite difficult but playable for people who can hit decent. fast green
Great Deal
When you can get a Hot Deal it makes everything better.
First day of Spring , no wind and sunny, mid50's was a good day to get some of the rust of the ol swing.
You really need the yardage book for this target course.
Would be a little easier if it's not car path only wet.
Cold and windy but lived the challenge
What a layout. Very challenging course and one with alot of beautiful scenery. It was 42 the day I played with winds 15-20 and did that make it tough. Love the 5 sets of tee boxes. Allot of long carries if playing from the tips. Course was in great shape for the time of year I played it. Glad I braved the cold and wind it was well worth it
The bunkers at this course are being redone with a state of the art method. That's hardly something to complain about. Come. Back when they're done.
