Typical Jack Nicklaus Course
Lots of bunkers and artificial undulations, i.e.., bumps/moguls) in the fairways. A good selection of tee boxes to suit a variety of players. Plenty of water that comes into play but with good course management it can be avoided. A number of the greens were crowned and could cause one some grief if you rolled off.
gorgeous challenge
Was first out in the afternoon following a tournament so had the course to myself. The weather was beautiful and the course superb. A nice Nicklaus challenge, well maintained, beautiful scenery, impeccable greens. Only blemishes that keep me from giving them all excellent rating were the cart guys failed to start the GPS for me and no one mentioned pin position so it took a few holes to figure those things out. Likely will give them another crack at it when back in the area. Great food in the Cove restaurant; very friendly staff there as well.
Strange layout and long playing time
First, don't try to walk this course. there are so many long drives between holes that it is virtually impossible. There are a lot of really strange holes on this course. You better have someone with you who has played it before because it is not obvious when you need to hit a lay up or favor one side of the fairway. Conditions are pretty good, but the holes are just so strange that I can't recommend this course. It really does not live up to its reputation. Yes, it's difficult, but it is difficult because it is odd and frankly not really fair. the 18th hole may be the worst golf hole I have ever played. In order to play it well you need to hit a drastic hook or forget about the green on your second shot. Not worth the traffic or the cost.
1 thing bad everything else good
This course was great. Didn't realize how many bunkers there were until i found out!!!! Water on every hole (clear water BTW)!!! Fairways were in excellent condition. Greens in great shape.
The only thing that i didn't like was it was cart path only from the previous night. Walking all over the place. Could have been 90 degree cart path rule.
All the holes are beautiful!!!!
Golf in Maryland & Delaware once a year and it is always a great experience
Beautiful golf course
The holes at bayside are layed out beautifully !!! It is a very challenging round of golf for any skill level,
We'll maintained and just a pleasure to play !!! Enjoyed it greatly thank you
Bayside a Great course
Jack did an outstanding job on this layout. Definitely will play again.
Bayside
Course in good shape, great choice of tees's for everyone's game.
Dale Ledbetter
Excellent experience, quality facility and very challenging golf course. Course offers plenty of challenge for all skill levels, very important to play the approriate tee's
Too hard for fun
I know you can always move up a set of tees but at 6400 yards I felt like I was where I was supposed to be but the course rating was140. That is the highest I have seen at that length. Don't get me wrong, everything at Bayside is top notch. It deserves all of its awards and high rankings of Top 100 Public Courses. From its pro shop, to its practice facility, layout and condition it is beautiful. There just seemed to be so much trouble everywhere. The greens were so well protected as where the approach shots. I just seemed to be taking such long routes to the greens to avoid the trouble which often was placed in the fairway. Must play again to see if it was as hard as I believe. If you can' carry the ball a long way in the air stay home.
Perfect
Had a noon tee time and went out early. Son who is 15 was half price. Had the course to ourselves which was in fantastic shape and played in under 4 hours. Bayside is an awesome track and a must play when in this area.
Best at the Beach!
I was amazed by the beauty of Bayside from the first tee till my last putt on 18. If you have your driver working, you can score well. If not, you'll be taking plenty of drops as there are hazards on every hole. There was no hole on the course that looked the same or that I disliked. As long as you pick the correct lines, you can rip driver on every hole. The true links layout is refreshing and rare for this side of the pond. Conditions were pristine and the greens were rolling pure at a good speed. I cannot wait to play this course again!
Perfect conditions made a perfect day
This was a more difficult course than I would normally play.
I found the fairways and greens in great shape and liked the speed of the conditions.
Phenomenal
Course was spectacular from hole 1 to hole 18. Layout is great! Greens rolled phenomenal and don't underestimate the value of the GPS on the carts here. Easily helped save 5 strokes on the day.
This course
Great course and a little challenging from all tees. If you hit it long it may be a pain to play from the signature tees but the landing areas are set up for your distance.
Best course around
What a great track! Greens were perfect. Smooth and fastest in Ocean City area. GPS in carts wasn't the best I've seen and really not that helpful. Would have liked to play back tees at 7500 yds but they were not out. Range is just as nice as course. Staff was very helpful and super nice. Just a great course.
Slow Play
Great course - but a 5 hour round. No rangers to speed up play
excellent course
challenging Nicklaus design, playing course for first time was not easy to navigate the many hazards
Not as good as advertised
A very challenging course in the best conditions, but we played just after a rain, so greens were very slow. Cart rules were 90 degree which effected pace of play to the point the ranger was pushing us which was ridiculous for a resort course and the conditions. He was downright rude. We ended up 8 minutes off scheduled timing. Our foursome won't go back.
Scenic tough test of golf
First time Playing here. Very enjoyable round of golf. Played blended tees and it was very manageable. I would play the green tees next time. Greens were nice and smooth. Not ridiculously fast, but fair.
Scenery was beautiful and the two golfers I got paired with made the day enjoyable. Birdied 18 to make a great day!
Tough test
Bayside is a very challenging, but fun, track. We enjoyed ourselves, but did have a few issues with the experience. First, range balls were included with our golfnow reservation, but the range was closed for an event the following day. Next, cart service stopped after the 7th hole. We teed off at 12:30, so it wasn't a late start. The temperature was 95 degrees and it actually became dangerous out there. Luckily, there were a couple water coolers on the back nine, but not having a drink cart was dangerous on a day like this. Finally, the halfway house was also closed on this day. The inability to get food or a drink once out on the course took away from our experience. Golf itself was great.
Just a suggestion.....been playing golf a long time and still have 8 hdcp. 6400 yards is way too long for a 15-19 hdcp.....suggest between 6000- 6200 max and you'll enjoy the game a lot more.
