this course was in surprisingly good shape for the time of year that it was the greens were very receptive

Course is not in the best condition, but the layout and playability are great. Only one hole was in really bad shape - it looked like the moon! Would definitely play it again though.

The staff here was extremely friendly and helpful! Brought a cart to my car when I pulled up and provided me with bottled water before sending me out. There were also coolers well stocked with bottled water several times on the course. While the course was not in the greatest condition, one could see that improvements where in the process. The price was great and I would play it again when going to that resort.

The course was extremely scenic nestled in the foothills - they were reworking the greens, so there was a lot of sand on the greens and they did not play true - the distance markers in the fairways were confusing, need better way to give golfers idea as to distance - it is a very challenging course that plays much longer than noted on the card, be prepared if you are an amateur to have a much higher score - but the scenery makes up for the inability to have very many pars

Course was somewhat difficult and most areas dry. Greens were tough and if cut a bit shorter would have played most interesting to me.

Staff was very accommodating and a pleasure to meet. Water bottles chilled and loaded in my cart (with one-in-hand), as I left the clubhouse.

Played the front nice with another single in 2 hours. Played the back as a single in 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Course was dry and greens were slow.

Third time playing the course and from the reviews I saw before booking I had expectations of course improvement. The best grass I saw all day was on the practice tee. The fairways are poor, to say the least, and lack definition from the tee box. Looking out at a position for your tee shot hard to see the bunkers because they blend in to the fairways. No rough to speak of, what there was of it was dormant (I guess). Lots of bare spots and dirt like lies. They seem to be dumping water on it as there were many muddy spots to be found, mostlt near the greens. The bunkers were a bit improved from my last visit with some grooming taking place but the string of fairway bunkers down the center of the 10th were half grown over. Greens were decent although very inconsistant. Our group never really got used to the varying speeds. Really wanted such a great layout to be in better shape. I am hopeful that they can bring it up to better condition, it is waste of a great piece of land.

Played this track about a year after it opened and it was awesome. Always wanted to play it again but it's a bit of a journey. Not a bad drive though. Watching the reviews and couldn't picture it the way it was portrayed. It was exactly as people have said. Nice tee boxes,bunkers and greens. Fairways are there you just have to look for em. Took six holes to figure it out and played great the rest of the round. The layout is awesome . I think a few times around it and you can remember where the washes and such come into play. Some really aren't in play but the ball just rolls for a long time. Felt like a tour player on some drives. The staff was excellent and treated us great. Had lunch there before we played and it was great as well. Laid back atmosphere made the day a blast. I'm glad to see them working on it and can't wait to play again.

We are a group of four retired ladies who have a fun time playing this course. We have to travel 50 miles but we would not miss playing here at least once a year. The staff is very friendly. The course has improved each year. The greens have improved tremendously.

played 2 years ago and fairways were poor, and greens had as many bare spote as grass areas. putting was by gosh/ by golley. That was 2 years ago, now fairways are good and greens are almost lush. I can not get over the vast improvement everywhere on the course. they have obviously put a lot of work & money into it.

Fairways are firm and fast but are not green enough to really differentiate them from the rough. Some of them have desert like parts coming through on them....greens are unpredictable from hole to hole in terms of speed and grain direction. Very difficult putting. Making anything over 6 feet is a fluke....That said.....the course has a great variation of holes long and short. No 2 holes are alike. Green side bunkers are very playable. It just needs some TLC. Greener and softer fairways would make this a great course. My recommendation to play is strictly based on price and not overall quality of course.

This course is not in pristine shape, but the views are pristine. The sandtraps have been taken care since last year. New sand, and no weeds... better sand than many courses in the valley. This course does not get much play, and I always play 36 holes because I can... I started out at 8:45 and finished the first 18 before noon. Had a sandwich, most excellent in the restaurant, and then went out again. Finished before 4 and was back home by 5:30 in the valley. Oh, hot deal for $25 and replay for $30. The price of golf in the valley is NUTS, so I love being able to play 36 for $55.... So what if the course is brown in places... It didn't affect my game....yes more water on the fairways would be good... but the grass is actually greening up and coming out of dormancy. There play and stay package is nice if you want to play 36 2 days in a row, which I have done... I never tire of this course, because of the challenge and the great views. Every hole is different. You often say, I'd like to play that hole over again, and play it differently.

Usually not over crowded.

I played the course back in July. My review then tempered the fact that they were in "recovery" mode from years of neglect. This trip has seen even more improvements to the course. She was pretty playable. The greens have come back about 95%, the bunkers have had a LOT of work done on them..they are now playable. The short par 4 6th is a glaring sore spot..the fairway is trashed. The staff told me they decided to wait for the overseed this year to be able to properly repair it (call it GUR and drop on grass). The staff is really excited to see this former top 10 in the state Tom Doak design come closer to it's former glory. All things aside, it is a great layout, with absolutely nothing but mountains and silence around you. Give it a run....but cut it some slack until next fall.

play here frequently, every time we play we can see some improvement in the course.

Three of us played the course; the first time for one of our players who hadn't played in some time. There are some challenging holes, most involving hitting over canyons, washes or desert. The course wasn't crowded, and those players we met were very laid back and friendly. The few times we had to wait (very few), the wait was minimal and even with our new player, we finished the 18 holes in under five hours. It was an extremely windy day, so we took longer than normal to play. We were provided with ice and water in our carts, and there was ice water placed along the way. The restrooms were relatively clean and stocked with toilet tissue, soap and paper towels. Playing this course was an enjoyable experience.

I love the variety and challenge of this course. It is very scenic with lots of elevation changes. This is a course with higher elevation than the valley so the temperature can be ten degrees cooler and about 3 weeks behind the valley courses. The fairways were dormant and yellow but easy to play off. The tees and greens were green and very playable. The price is excellent and the staff couldn't be any more accommodating. Will play this course more even though it's an hours drive to get there.

Always enjoy this course as it is never busy like most valley courses but you pay for this luxury with a lengthy drive from the city. It boasts a great layout and design but unfortunately is poorly maintained. Dry fairways and lack of rough are tolerable because of good tee boxes and greens. The savings in green fees may be spent on your next fuel fill up but is still worth the drive.

The quality of the design, plus all the great work they are doing to restore the course, makes this a story to keep an eye on.

Was the first one out on a weekday, played solo, beautiful day. Course is a real challenge, and a great mix of classic holes. I was by myself, and I had a blast. Some holes are brutal (Serpentine ate my lunch), some holes give you a chance to score. Take one less club than you think you need on 14. Trust me. Greens were very solid, you really need to know them in order to miss in the right spots (wish I bought a yardage/greens book, not knowing cost me 2-3 strokes).

Met the Super out on the course, very sharp, a proven guy, he feels good about the financial commitment from the tribe to improve the course. Staff in the shop could not have been more friendly and helpful.

If you need lush (read: overwatered) green fairways, pampering, and pavement, this is not the course for you. Go to Scottsdale. But if you want real golf shots, fast and brown fairways, a stellar layout, classic holes, and a real challenge, go check this course out. Maybe you can win some of the money I left in the casino too.

The greens were in great shape. The fairways were not overseeded. Worth driving to for $40. Could be a great course if they took better care of it. Staff is very friendly. Ice chests full of bottled water every 4 holes. Hard to recognize whete to hit off the tee box as the fairways are all dead grass. Fun course to play despite the average course conditions.

I played this course a year ago and has not changed as to the cart path and hole markers,it would be nice to have better hole directions since cart path are all dirt road and unable to see direction to next hole.
