Back 9 Worth the Wait
I have reviewed this course before. You will find the front 9 holes fairly straight forward, although there is a blind -approach par 3 that you do not see every day. But the front 9 is all prelude to the back 9 that moves into foothill terrain and some fairly interesting holes. The fairways undulate and there are multiple elevated tees and/or greens you will navigate. A fun par 3 with a 100+ yard drop from an elevated tee caps off the adventure. The fairways were a bit stressed from the heat though very playable. The greens were all running slow on this outing.. I am guessing that they were being grown out from being punched and sanded a few weeks bak.
Best summer course in AZ.
If you’re from Arizona and like to golf during the summer ( very hot by the way ) you can always expect the rough and fairways to be sub par, a lot of dry spots and if you go in the sand they are as dry as concrete, not here. The fairways were green the greens are nicely kept ( a bit slow on the back nine) and the sand traps are actually sand they are not hard is dry dirt. I loved the course will definitely be playing here again. The prices were fair $50 per person but It was a nice course. I recommend it to anyone. Not to many hills easy to find your ball if you slice it. Really enjoyed it.
Good location but in terrible shape right now
This is a great course In peak season but it was really beat up when I played yesterday on the links course.
Usually a great place to play however
I love the links course however today was a free for all out there and it was very disappointing. I don’t know if it’s the heat and not a lot of people out there but this group that was not ahead of me on the front 9 was so obnoxious that I quit by 12. They must have skipped over and after waiting around, replaying holes (no one behind me) I finally just gave up. The staff did nothing it seemed as though they just didn’t care.
Questionable management.
The links course is a short but fun course. I have enjoyed playing it for years.
The layout is good, and the bunkers were in excellent condition.
The grass from tee to green was patchy. The pin placement was not thought out as it was right in the middle of terrible patches occasionally.
The range is $10 to hit off of mats. After seeing a group of 4 adults hitting off of the grass, a lone teen joined them. The range attendant ignored the adults as they left but asked the teen if he knew how to read. No reason to be rude.
They take the appearance of covid protections seriously but have no problem forcing strangers to share carts with dozens available.
Finally, the halfway house reeks of propane. I felt bad for the young lady that had to work in there.
Leaving this review on a good note, Hailey on the beverage cart was great!
Great rate slow summer greens
Pace of play was good . The greens are slow once they start rolling true it will be a really great course to play.
Nice easy play
Course is pretty open and can be brutal on hot days. I found all the fairways running parallel to be distracting.
Horrible conditions
Almost impossible to play this course for a real score, biltmore has always had greens but today was a new level of bad, some greens have fairway length grass mixed in with dead spots and weeds, putting your ball is like pulling the lever on a pinball machine, just guess which way it’s going to bounce.
