Morning view down the Par-5 5th fairway. A strong drive, especially to the center-right fairway, sets you up to go for the green in two! Photo submitted by vmustang on 04/25/2021

5 hour round, not great bunkers.
Backed up from the start. We didn't tee off until 10 minutes after our tee time. A lot of old timers on the course so we knew it was going to be a long day. Weather was perfect, a lot of bugs on the course until the wind picked up. A couple bunkers were decent, half of them were rock solid, greens didn't have any fringe. On two separate occasions 2 different guys tried to take my buddies golf ball (not a course complaint). An average course for the price but not somewhere we are eager to play at again.
Mostly Good
We play this course frequently because the staff is very nice and the course itself is in fairly decent condition! We get paired with nice people as well. Only concerns now due to recent rain a couple bunkers were full of water and there was standing water in the low lying ground which this time of year brings gnats. The bunkers could use more sand! Golfers need to be encouraged to rake the bunkers, fill divots, and fix divots on greens! Noticed more garbage, marshals could pick up as they cruise around. All in all a nice course and we keep returning!
Good........ But
Nice old style layout. All in all, the course conditions were good. Tee boxes, fairways & greens were nice. There were a few sparse areas in the rough, but nothing serious. I have to agree w/ other reviews about the bunkers. Although they looked okay, they could all use a few inches of sand in them. VERY hard! The greens were very small (as is normal w/ older courses) but rolled well.
The property is quite small (again, normal w/ older courses), so there were many fairways running parallel to each other. The greens & tee boxes are also very close to each other.
There were a lot of new golfers and weekend warriors out, so the place really was a shooting gallery. Balls were flying everywhere from all directions, so definitely keep your head up when you're out there. Even when you think you're in a safe spot.
Because of the golfing clientele, the pace of play was agonizingly slow. It took us 4 hrs & 45 mins to finish. However, it was on a Sunday.
All in all, I liked the course itself a lot, but absolutely hated the pace of play.
Tight Course
The course was in good condition. Staff is very friendly. Greens are small and fairways tight. Would definetly play here again.
Keep your workout here!
I’ve always like this course but due to some recent injuries, it is not very walkable nor handicap friendly, even with a flag.
The back 9 is the best. Great desert vistas and interesting holes. The clubhouse is stunning.
Have an up and down hill workout and enjoy.
Good first round in Chandler
Pace of play was great (4 1/2 hours). They said they were backed up when we checked in, but they got caught up and we started on time. Course is in reasonably good condition, but the bunkers are not sand, they are dirt. My only real complaint about the course. Greens were very slow but true. We were paired with two men that are regulars on the course, and it was a very enjoyable afternoon. For the price I would recommend this course to friends.
Good course
Phoenix in March what can you say it is what it is expense wise. Course was a good balance between cost and getting to golf. Staff was very friendly and helpful. First time on this course tangled with drainage ditch too much.
Peace of play was good. 4:20.
Warm up range very limited with short range balls.
Overall would come back again
An ok course
San Marcos is an old school course with a lot of trees and small greens protected by bunkers. Overall condition is good but the bunkers need work. They are all packed dirt preventing sand shots
