Morning view down the Par-5 5th fairway. A strong drive, especially to the center-right fairway, sets you up to go for the green in two! Photo submitted by vmustang on 04/25/2021

Good........ But
Nice old style layout. All in all, the course conditions were good. Tee boxes, fairways & greens were nice. There were a few sparse areas in the rough, but nothing serious. I have to agree w/ other reviews about the bunkers. Although they looked okay, they could all use a few inches of sand in them. VERY hard! The greens were very small (as is normal w/ older courses) but rolled well.
The property is quite small (again, normal w/ older courses), so there were many fairways running parallel to each other. The greens & tee boxes are also very close to each other.
There were a lot of new golfers and weekend warriors out, so the place really was a shooting gallery. Balls were flying everywhere from all directions, so definitely keep your head up when you're out there. Even when you think you're in a safe spot.
Because of the golfing clientele, the pace of play was agonizingly slow. It took us 4 hrs & 45 mins to finish. However, it was on a Sunday.
All in all, I liked the course itself a lot, but absolutely hated the pace of play.
Tight Course
The course was in good condition. Staff is very friendly. Greens are small and fairways tight. Would definetly play here again.
Keep your workout here!
I’ve always like this course but due to some recent injuries, it is not very walkable nor handicap friendly, even with a flag.
The back 9 is the best. Great desert vistas and interesting holes. The clubhouse is stunning.
Have an up and down hill workout and enjoy.
Good first round in Chandler
Pace of play was great (4 1/2 hours). They said they were backed up when we checked in, but they got caught up and we started on time. Course is in reasonably good condition, but the bunkers are not sand, they are dirt. My only real complaint about the course. Greens were very slow but true. We were paired with two men that are regulars on the course, and it was a very enjoyable afternoon. For the price I would recommend this course to friends.
Good course
Phoenix in March what can you say it is what it is expense wise. Course was a good balance between cost and getting to golf. Staff was very friendly and helpful. First time on this course tangled with drainage ditch too much.
Peace of play was good. 4:20.
Warm up range very limited with short range balls.
Overall would come back again
An ok course
San Marcos is an old school course with a lot of trees and small greens protected by bunkers. Overall condition is good but the bunkers need work. They are all packed dirt preventing sand shots
Nice Course
Nice course. The layout makes it a bit of a shooting gallery, but fairways are fairly wide. Course is in good condition....saw a bald eagle out there!
Excellent fairways, nice greens, but the bunkers could use some more sand in them, quite compacted.
Good Course for the Price
So never having played here before, but chose it for the price, I was pleasantly surprised. Good but small greens, slightly firm that won’t necessarily hold a shot. Some of the bunkers had very little sand over hard pan, some others were decent. Pay attention to the irrigation canal. Carry it or leave it short. Fairways and tees were in good shape, some difficult tee shots from the black tees with the placement of trees down the fairway. Would play here again.
First time here
Very flat course but nice trees make it visually interesting. Greens and fairwats good, bunkers could be better. Pace a tad slow but not unbearable. All the staff were very pleasant and helpful. Will definitely be back
SM 0221
Greens and sand traps were good tee boxes and fairways not so much. Very little grass on the fairways and tee boxes pretty beat up and hard to get tees in the ground.
