If the House of Mouse built a golf course in Frontierland I’m pretty sure it would look just like the Pinnacle Course at Troon North.
Wow
Very rarely will I leave a five star review. This course deserves it. Top to bottom, amazing. I got on for a reasonable price so I may be a little biased. However this course is one of the best that I have seen. The layout gets better and better as the course goes on. Fairways and rough are in immaculate shape. Must play in AZ.
Never fails to disappoint
While I get that many feel that TN has priced itself out of the market; this course (especially Pinnacle) remains the penultimate example of desert golf.
All good until….
Welcome, great; staff, great; lay out, great; driving range, mediocre due little turf where it is currently set up. Nonetheless always a good feel… right up until you get to the first green…. And then the 2nd, and then the 3rd… ball marks were shocking for a high end golf course and simply unacceptable at this price point. Allocate some staff to repair them. Shameful that golfers don’t fix them, but my guys we fix 4 -5 per hole, it’s just not enough. #2 looks like a somebody did a helicopter ball drop! Sorry, but I expected better at this price point. probably 8th time I’ve played this course and have never seen it like this.
Definitely recommend
Course was in great condition, amazing landscape all around. A great golfing experience.
Great golf course
We had a outstanding time at this location. This was one of the top 5 courses I have ever played. The views were amazing. The layout was fun and challenging. This staff was great
The only hicup was it was cart path only for some reason. The couple we were paired with had played there around 15 times and they said it was never like that in the past. I don't know if this was a special situation or a new policy but it did add some time to the round and a lot of extra steps.
Overall outstanding round.
Not worth it
5.5 hr round at Pinnacle. No starter. Course completely backed up, waiting before every shot. Ranger was a joke. Most holes you can’t hit driver, lots of forced carries. Greens and fairways were super nice. Views pretty good. Suggest you save your money and go play eagle mountain and dinosaur mountain for cost of one rd at Troon north.
Tight and challenging
Rarely hit driver because the course was so tight, but a good challenge. Greens in good shape, recommended.
WOW
The course was beautiful, the weather was perfect. Will be back next year!!!
3 hour back 9, bad staff
I don't know what it is with this course, every time I golf there's an issue starting.
Last time I played I showed up to the tee box 15 minutes early, only to find that the starter sent my group out 20 minutes before the scheduled tee time, and had me hitting into them on the fairway.
Today the starter tells me "wait for the other twosome". No worries. He leaves. The other twosome shows up. It's 2 minutes past our scheduled tee time. We tee off. He shows up a minute later, and he lectures my playing partners about how we were supposed to wait for him to send us off? I don't get it.
Grass range for warm-up is great, but the TopTracer feature requires WiFi and it was down. Drink cart came around a few times. Nothing was posted about ordering food at the turn. 2 bottles of water provided, club cleaner in cart with towels.
The course had some unique holes - #3 is the monument hole with a boulder in the middle of the fairway on a dogleg par 5. Had me excited that the course would have other unique features, but there was nothing that you wouldn't find on other courses for another 10 holes. #14 is an uphill par 5 into a mountain full of boulders. #15 is a drivable par 4. #16 is an elevated par 3 with a city/mountain view which is 238 from the tips (plays like 200). Lots of rabbits, saw 5 deer crossing the path, even saw a bobcat. This was the easier of the 2 courses here.
Made the turn just over 2 hours and finished in 5 hours. Back 9 was a 5-10 minute wait every hole. Ranger approached groups ahead of us and told them to speed up, but this accomplished nothing, and he gave up after hole #12. This part of the valley is full of wealthy people who don't like being told what to do. Every green had several ball marks that went unfixed.
Condition is fantastic, there's rough here outside the fairways instead of dead grass like most courses. Greens weren't as fast as they were a month ago - thank goodness. Bunkers had good sand in them. Tee boxes could have been cut a bit shorter.
WOW
This may have been the best conditioned course I’ve ever played. Fairways were lush and the greens were fast. Will definitely come back.
