Hotel with history behind it!! Photo submitted by Shypoke55 on 04/22/2019
needs some TLC
Played this course for the third time this year and there is some improvement each time we play there. It's a great layout with some very interesting holes and some undulation. The par three's are all pretty good. The fairways are a bit spotty and the greens have some patches but it has dried out from what it was a few weeks ago. There are lots of gopher holes. Lost a ball in one this round! For the price this time of year its a good deal. Hope they keep up the improvements.
Should be in better shape this time of year
Overall we enjoy playing here and the price is great considering the exorbitant winter rates charged at other Phoenix area courses. The staff are super friendly. Our main beef is with the overall course conditions. The greens were mostly rock hard and many of the fairways were scant. They should consider paying closer attention to the course conditions.
Tournament
Slow play due to a tournament that started at 8:00 am shotgun start but it was slow play for sure
Second time playing
The starter had issues with me having a rider, even though I was willing to pay any additional fees. This wasn't my first time playing this course either. I had been sent many previous times before as a solo with no issues. There were plenty of carts available to use as well. Couse conditions was muddy. It's an historic site and a decent course if other options aren't available.
needs a little TLC
This was the second time playing this course this winter. Both times there have been wet areas in the fairways while other spots are bone dry. The greens are spotty with some being very good and others on the ratty side. It is a very nice layout and with some TLC and water in the right places could be great. With golf being priced very high in the Phoenix area at this time of year the course is a deal.
Good golf
Starting with the negatives. Very slow pace of play. 5 hours. Fellow behind said that is quite common now. Girl at the turn was not friendly at all. Positives were friendly people at arrival., course played well , greens were decent and held the ball. Will play again.
The course needs some work on the greens. There are signs of rodent problems around some of the greens. The course is fairly flat and not too difficult. It’s a fun, relaxing course to play.
Very nice course for the price.
Green were nice smooth green and fast. Some bunkers were in need of sand. Plenty of tee boxes to chose a comfortable distance to play. Some of the cart path and tee boxes could use a little work. I will be golfing here again.
Nice fairways and greens
Very busy and you will be lucky to get your tee time on the scheduled time
