Hotel with history behind it!! Photo submitted by Shypoke55 on 04/22/2019
Kind of rough
There is considerable amount of ground under repair and most of the greens are rather rough.
Truly terrible conditions
Course was to the point they should close down. Greens had several spots each with sand and dirt. Fairways had dirt patches 20-30 yards long. No beverage service except for the turn (people were terrific and food was good). Ponds were gross. Mud everywhere (no rain anytime in past week or two).
We had out of town guests and I was embarrassed to have taken them here.
Staff is goid
Chris is in pretty good shape and enjoyed the round especially with the tee off discount coupon
Greens need lot of work and course was fairly muddy
Allegedly the longest course in the state from the tips, which is all it has going for it. I felt like taking at least 5 shots off my score because the greens didn't roll consistently. No coolers, sand, or gps on the carts. Also, the starter was awfully grumpy.
Nice Track
Course was in pretty decent shape. Some bare spots here and there but coming back nicely. Most bunkers had sand and most greens and tees were really good. People were great and finished in 4:15 minutes. Can't beat the price compared to the Valley where rougher looking courses are going for $100+. Will be back
Course in Ruff shape
Fairways were poor shape lots of dead spots. Most of the green were in bad shape need lots of work
Not so good
Have played the course before. A bib disappointment this time. Terrible condition. Before the greens were quite good This time not so good. . Save your money. R
There was more grass on the range than anywhere on the course.
Ok for the money but needs work
For $45 with a cart it was ok, but there is no grass in a lot of the fairways and some of the greens are in tough shape. The good thing is you can hit it anywhere and find your ball and play it. Not many hazards. Too many geese and other birds all over the course making a mess. Would only play again to save money and have a fairly easy round.
Good value for the money
Played this for the first time off a hotdeal. The course layout was sweet; lots of long holes and a few narrow fairways. Some bare spots but nothing to make me second guess coming back. Tee boxes were alright only a two or three were in ugly shape. The guy in the pro shop was very nice. The guy who collects the rangeballs was pretty rude- we parked the cart on the grass right on the range because there was no sign or direction not to and the dude threw a fit. The marshaller rushed us off the range because with 7 mins left before our tee time because his second group showed up so that was annoying. There was ice on the greens because they were watering at 7 am so be careful as at times it could be a little slick.
Just keeps getting worse.
I know your closed in the summer and had some issues. Fairways were brown and sitting water and mud everywhere. My ball was plugging in the middle? The greens were bumpy as ever and you couldn't get a straight putt for anything. Now I understand for 60 bucks, but for the same price in Casa Mission Royal is way more playable. Play at your own risk......
Needs a Little Love
It had rained recently I guess because the fairways were wet and muddy. Not in the best of condition overall though the greens were pretty good.
Enjoy Playing Here Several Times a Year
While a 45-minute drive for me, I try to play here 4-5 times a year. Course has great history (Years of hosting MLB Spring Training and connection to John Wayne) and is in reasonably good shape for the price. Staff is always friendly. Course is long and plays longer. Trees make it so easy to get into trouble. The two highest handicap holes are par 3s. They look straight forward and then zap, you post a 4, 5 or 6. All in all Fun and worth the trip
Hello Robdowing,
Thank you for your review and we apologize for your unpleasant experience last week. We realize the course is not in normal condition right now, and are working hard to correct it. We have been fertilizing heavier due to the conditions, which is why the course was wetter than normal.
