1st timer, Fantastic staff from the welcome/cart guy, through the pro shop and into the beautiful Arroyo Grille! course in great shape... fairways... bunkers... greens... tee boxes. Just try and stay OUT of the bunkers and you’ll absolutely love it!!

Course was in great shape! Greens were better than expected and just a few days after being punched. We had a great time!

The "recreational" golfer will find this course very difficult. No doubt the temperature which hovered around 115 degress contributred to this challenging design. Lots of bunkers in landing area of tee shot for all levels of players and all greens heavily bunkered. I agree that the course is ranked #4 in Phoenix area. Well deserved reputation. GREAT FOOD and SERVICE with inside dining now being offered. THANKS

The course is in absolute perfect shape. The staff is always friendly and very knowledgeable. The practice faculty is always maintained as good as the course. I can’t rave enough about ACSD!

I love this course! No BS, just a great track and a great test of golf. The staff is always super friendly and professional. I've played over 80 golf courses in this state, and Southern Dunes is number one on my list, but, there is one thing...You guys should consider not using Armour All on your carts, particularly on the seats and steering wheels. That stuff really screws up the feel of golf grips. After the first two holes, I took my towel and a bottle of water to wash everything down just so I wouldn't get any on my hands, so that I could swing my clubs normally. A small thing I know, but it really makes a difference. I wonder if other players have mentioned it to the staff there. Other than that, the course is tremendous.

First time playing at this course. Course was challenging and fun. Definitely makes you choose wisely at to what club to use off the tee. Greens were in great shape, as well as the fairways and tee boxes. Except for the tips on #18. Needs work! Maintenance promptly moved out of the way and shut off machines when golfers approached. Course was in great shape for the middle of July! Can’t wait to get back and play again.

I would choose a different coursr right now..

Course was great, conditions were wonderful, rate of play as a single was perfect. If there was anything that could make the day better would be that the greens were a little faster. But it's Arizona and it has been 116, though today was much cooler 109. Worth the hour + drive.

Worth the drive down to play this course. Pace of play for a Saturday was awesome. Course in great shape.

Pros:

The greens had been recently punched, but still rolled well.

Plenty of bottled water on the course.

Average practice facility.

The grille food is adequate.

Cons:

The location is difficult to get to.

The course is mostly sand, with grass added.

Many mosquitoes and biting flies.

Summary:

A different cup of tea. Not for everyone.

Layout was good but definitely a faders course. Only three holes were drawers holes. Course in Good condition, pace of play was good, but got taken at the arroyos grille. $8.79 for a mediocre hot dog at the turn and $28. For 4 draft beers on the 19th hole. Unacceptable!!

This course is very challenging with many bunkers, ample fairways and we'll guarded greens. This course puts a premium on your shots into the greens. Was disappointed that the range closes at 1:00 during the summer and we were not made aware of that. Beverage cart servers were nice, however were told on hole #8 we would see her on the back-9 but never saw her again.

This was my first time playing this course along with the 3 other players in my foursome. The course was playable, the greens were perfect and the staff was amazing. I’ll be back again very soon! One of the best courses in Arizona in my opinion.

We played the tips. A few brown spots in the fairway, but overall, the course was in great condition! Greens were in great shape and were rolling nice. This was my first time playing and I will certainly be back! Highly recommend this place.

Course was airified about two weeks ago but greens were great , rolled true and at a good pace

Only in 2 green side bunkers and they were fine

Fairways above average for this time of year

Water stations every 3 -4 holes

Played front 9 in 1:55 but back nine took almost 3 hours to play

6 sets of tees , course plays between 7500 and 5000 yards

I play every time I come to the Phoenix area

If you are playing golf in the Phoenix valley you need to check out Southern Dunes. This course features an amazing layout and the conditions are always top notch. Every staff member we interacted with truly wanted us to have a great time. I would recommend this to anyone in the area!
