A Must Play
Have been playing vacation golf in Arizona for over a decade and have never made the drive down to Southern Dunes before. It is a fantastic track, best value, and well worth the drive.
Pace of play
Wonderful course and staff, but pace of play on the day we played was extremely slow-over a 5 hour round. Wet weather likely contributed and I will try this venue again because it’s excellent. I hope the slow round was an abberation.
Beautiful Course
The course was absolutely lovely, lots of bunkers but always an escape route provided. The Prob Shop Staff and club assistants were very friendly and helpful, but the starter was very condescending to women. Did not see a lot of women on the course, too bad as it is a very playable course. As a low teen handicap I tried to inquire about tee options but was rudely told I should play the forward - no inquiry about my H/C or playing ability - in hindsight the combo tees would have probably been the correct tees. A suggestion to the restaurant staff to ask loud bachelor parties to keep it down - the conversations on the outside patio were loud and crass and disturbed multiple diners.
Tough but good.
Lots of sand!!! Could be a little more sand underneath. Greens and fairways were excellent.
Great, layout – but thin sand traps
Nice design to Ak Chin golf course, with many traps, protecting greens and fairways throughout the course. We were not impressed with the compact nature of the sand traps, which were sometimes like going through a thin layer of asphalt. I believe that if you’re going to charge this kind of price, $170 per player, then the course should be in impeccable condition in every way.. that’s just me… I won’t be going out of my way to play it again anytime soon exclamation
Love this course! Staff was very friendly and helpful.
Consistently great place to play
Just a consistently great place to play. For how much play it gets the course is in great condition (not sure why players can't fix ball marks :)) The staff is terrific, and the overall experience is very nice. Well done gang
