Great day at Eagle Mountain! Photo submitted by uOQDZ5699OQ on 09/26/2012
Great course layout, great greens
Eagle Mountain offers a tough but fair course layout and a good test of golf for an amateur. Greens are grainy and large and undulating and are courses main defense. The only criticism I have is the patchiness of some of the fairways. Practice facilities are just okay as a good chipping area and trap shot area are missing. Staff is excellent, breakfast and lunch outstanding and beautiful views are available on every hole.
Crazy pin positions
Played Eagle Mountain for the first time in a few years yesterday. Generally thought the course was a little on the scruffy side with the greens in average shape. The biggest issue though was the pin placements. I counted 11 holes where the pins were less than 3 paces from the edges of greens making the round quite frustrating. The other 7 holes had pins on slopes or on the edge of a slope. Not sure why that was? Perhaps they are trying to protect the greens which were very average condition wise. It is an interesting layout with some great views and worth a visit but beware of th nasty pin placements, best advised to play to the centre of greens regardless!!
Excellent Golf Course
The elevation changes, views, and just overall layout of this course is incredible. You won’t regret it play here.
Fun golf
Great value for money. Fairways easy to hit off, greens ran true. Many enjoyable vistas.
Oldcrow
I really enjoyed playing, greens were perfect speed, they do have some undulations kinda need to be on the right level. fairways are fairly wide, manicured with a lot of slopes, and most slopes help. I would recommend this course
Very good course
As stated a good course in fine condition.Perhaps a little hilly specially as lot of holes mostly cart only. Overall a definite recomendation
Great course!
It’s a great course- a bit unique. Elevation changes and layout make it a fun place to play. It’s a favorite.
First time playing but would recommend.
My wife and I played today as a twosome behind a foursome. Pace of play was good, 3 1/2 hours, including several holes that were cart path only and the cart path being oftentimes a long hilly walk. The food was very good in the grill and very reasonably priced.
Great Course Almost Ruined By Idiots
Eagle Mountain is, as advertized, in its usual spectacular shape. I played it as a single with two great local regulars (Lonnie and Ed) and we had a spectacular day in the searing heat despite the group that went out in front of us. More about that after the review. Eagle Mountain did a recent overhaul of the first and 14th fairways and they are both in better shape than when we played em in January. In fact all the fairway and tee-boxes were pristine and the greens had almost no ball marks and rolled fast and true. There were plenty of watering stations and the whole overall course conditions were spectacular. What concerns me is how, as a more upper-tier facility, Eagle Mountain chooses to employ just one players' assistant in the heat of the summer and to keep him stationed at the first tee. That nice big cooler of scented iced towels is useless at the club-cleaning area--it's ten steps to the nice cool washroom--it should be in the back of a marshall's cart roaming the fairways and keeping play moving just as it is around the corner at We-Ko-Pa.
I will close this review by noting that it never ceases to amaze me how inconsiderate a few of our fellow golfers can be in choosing their tee-boxes. We played behind a foursome with at least two members who needed to be on the forward tees, NOT PLAYING THE TIPS!! By 13 tee there were two and one-half holes open in front of them. That golf course was playing slow long after I had driven home and settled into my pool and there is just no excuse for that. Get a marshall out there, Eagle Mountain.
Almost
Course architecture was great. People nice. But putting greens were sorrowful inconsistent.
Beautiful course it is in good shape.
The staff was friendly at check in through putting the clubs in the car. The course is challenging but fair. This is one of my top 3 courses in AZ. I will be back.
We appreciate you taking the time to leave us with 3 stars. We always strive for a 5 star experience, so all of your feedback is appreciated. Please feel free to contact the club directly if you feel that there are specifics we can improve on. We hope to have you back at the course in the future.
