Great day at Eagle Mountain! Photo submitted by uOQDZ5699OQ on 09/26/2012
Didn't believe the reviews
I had to see for myself if the course was that bad and it was. If I didnt have to stand in the fairways for 10 mins on every hole I might not have picked it apart but wow bad fairways and even slower play. Staff should be embarrassed with management of course.
Worth Playing
I was worried after reading many reviews about their poor condition of the fairways. They were not perfect like other courses I played, but it didn't effect our round and should not stop you from playing. The greens were excellent and it has the mountain views an out of town golfer wants
Nice course with good views
This is a good course with lots of elevation changes and a good layout. There were issues with some of the fairways but not that big a deal as in some of the reviews. I only remember some of the holes with major issues. I think lots of the replaced grass was already growing in ok. Greens were in good shape and I would play this one again.
Slow play, poor fairways
The fairways were being repaired on many holes and was in bad shape. We waited on every hole which made the pace of play very frustrating. Would not play here again for the money.
Slow play needs fixing
I have played this course since day one and bring 3 guests regularly. How sad to see the problems, particularly of slow play, outlined in many of the reviews. The day we played, the starter allowed 4 adults and 2 children in front of us in two carts!! I'm sure the children were pledged not to play, but they did. I noted in one of the reviews, a fivesome was allowed! The head pro was gracious and offered a replay but this lovely course needs to analyze and resolve the slow play issue. We played in 5 and one half hours! OB management needs to step up here. Are the tee times too close together??
Poor course conditions
The course was in as bad a shape as I've seen a course, especially at the top of the season and at the price charged. I don't expect to play here again and I don't recommend it.
Mountain is right
Course winds through a mountainous area so lots of elevation changes. You must play with someone who knows the course or you will hit into some bad places. Beautiful views of course & surroundings are worth taking your camera. Unfortunately, you'll have plenty of time to take pictures because like other reviewers have said, it's a very slow pace.
A must play AAA course
A great course to play for every skill level. A great layout with some spectacular views. The tee boxes & greens were in excellent shape. Undulating greens create a challenge. Carts were restricted to the rough on two holes due to minor sodding--not a problem.
5-1/2 hours to play
A beautiful day ruined by failed course management. Our 11:45 a.m. tee time was backed up 15 minutes and we waited on the tee every-single- hole. 5-1/2 hour round and people were leaving the course early. The rangers were friendly but nothing was done to find out and correct the problem. For what they charge, we should have been offered half off on another round...which I requested from a ranger. No response. We should have been offered something. Don't play here.
Temporary fairway issue
Fairways are in the process of being replaced in a number of spots. Makes for a number of uneven lies. I always enjoy playing here and the staff was very friendly and helpful.
Fairways are really bad
I read other reviews of this course before playing. A lot of them talks about the poor fairways. We called the shop and they said "only about 4-5 of them are bad"
Trust me-about 16 of them are bad. The sodding done on a lot of them looks terrible and obviously stops your ball from a true roll. The course itself is beautiful and the layout is great. Greens were great as well. For the money you can play other courses with good fairways in the area. If they don't fix this issue they are going to lose a lot of business...
Excellent course, scenery and weather!
Only problem was pace of play (just under 5 hours). All else was excellent. Forgiving side hills bring errant shots back in play. Greens undulating and huge but in really great condition!
Beautiful but over priced
Great layout, spectacular views, friendly staff. Greens in excellent shape. However the fairways need work. The course had cut out numerous patches exposing raw dirt on the fairways. We were told by the starter that they were working on putting in new sod on a lot of the holes. Lots of GUR. We paid a good buck to play there so given the conditions you would have expected a reduced rate or some compensation. Pace of play was slow. We actually had a five-some(3 carts) in front of us for the first nine. On the turn we were expecting to grab a burger or a dog at their grill near the 10th tee box, but it wasn't staffed. After the round we wanted to have dinner there, but they were only serving appetizers off the menu. The course has great potential in giving you a real positive experience. I'm just not sure why in high season they would start major sod work and be short on kitchen staff. Having said that I would play the course again. It's a beautiful course. Maybe we just caught a bad day.
Super Bowl Weekend
Had a few friends in town for the Super Bowl and played Eagle Mountain. They wanted to play a scenic course and I took them out there. Had a great time and enjoyed the course. The greens were in great shape and tricky. A few fairways were in rough shape but the course was great overall.
Greens are PERFECT!
This course has some of the best views around! Greens were absolutely perfect but they have some issues with the fairways. I asked the Ranger what had happened and he told me they have a water quality issue. Staff was really friendly and helpful too.
Great Day of Golf
We had a great day out at Eagle Mountain. The course is in nice condition and the staff is very friendly.
Greens were OK but fairways were wet and torn up in lots of places. Course was not in very good shape for the money we paid.
Course was wet and not in good shape. Greens were OK but not great. I wouldn't recommend this course. Poor value for the money.
Eagle Mountain
Greens were fast and true, tee boxes in great shape. Fairways were awful. Lots (LOTS) of GUR and bare spots. Disappointed in fairways for this time of year and price of course.
Nice course but overpriced.
Beautiful views of the mountains but the brown grass in the rough was disappointing. Paid over $150 with taxes on GolfNow and found out the person golfing with us booked on Birdie Bug for $68.
Thank you for taking the time to review Eagle Mountain Golf Club. The comment regarding Birdie Bug comes up occasionally and wanted to clarify why the other player in your group only paid $68. Birdie Bug is not only a tee time provider but they also manage a call center that currently handles phone calls for multiple properties including Eagle Mountain. As payment for their services Birdie Bug receives 1-2 tee times per day (varies by course) that they can sell at whatever rate they choose. Once the tee times are sold they are required to sell the remainder of times at the same rate we post for all players. I realize it’s still frustrating to pay a higher rate but wanted you to know why the other player received a lower rate.
Not worth the aggravation.
slow slow and slower and management doesn't, care. Spend your money somewhere else.
Thank you for your review of Eagle Mountain Golf Club. I’m sorry we didn't meet your expectations and also wanted to apologize for the fairway conditions that you mentioned. Due to the exorbitant price of water in Fountain Hills the local courses are forced to use reclaimed water, which is extremely high in salt and not ideal for establishing the lush winter fairway grasses we are accustomed to. The Superintendent and his staff are working tirelessly to improve the fairway conditions. We appreciate your support of Eagle Mountain and wanted you to know that we are doing everything possible to remedy these issues.
