Great day at Eagle Mountain! Photo submitted by uOQDZ5699OQ on 09/26/2012
Simply awesome
This coarse is very forgiving with almost all the fairways being fish bowled. The greens were in excellent shape. This coarse is ideal for great golfers as well as your most common hacker. An absolute must golf.
MY local Friends Favorite course in Phoenix
I would have to agree with his assesment. The course was unique for the Phoenix area, being situated on a mountainside
Player friendly fairways enhance experience
Plenty of beautiful holes with fair layouts.
On most fairways the sides are sloped towards the center of the fairway allowing some forgiveability for errant shots.
Large greens with plenty of undulations and multiple levels.
I will certainly come back and play Eagle Mountain the next time I visit the Phoenix area.
Great views, terrible pace of play
Keep in mind that this is a tight course that weaves throughout mountains and is exposed as much as it is protected from winds. The day we golfed, the winds were 20mph, so a high handicapper would have had issues as the course has many elevation changes in conjunction with swirling winds. We made the last tee time thinking we would be fine and be finished before we lost sunshine. Unfortunately we had a group of high handicappers in front of us hitting off the championship tees. Needless to say, we finished the 18th guessing where our balls were after each shot due to darkness. There was no Marshall or any staff at all seen during our 18. From the time we pulled up to the clubhouse and to the first tee, the organization and professionalism was great. After the first tee, it was non-existent. 5.5 hr round was very disappointing. The rest of the course was outstanding. Just ask the staff before you head out if they have marshal's and if not, how to report slow groups. This is not a high handicapper course, recommended for low to mid handicaps.
Undulating Greens Fun Track
Was wanting to play this place again really bad for a long time after first playing it in 1998. It was everything I remembered from the first time. Big elevation changes, undulating greens, and wonderful views are all part of the experience. Got a great price on golf now of $79. Had a lot of putts that had HUGE breaks to them. Being on the proper area of the green after hitting approach shots will benefit you greatly
Overpriced
The course fairways are in horrible shape. Never seen so many divots, bear spaces and ground under repair areas on a course. Pace of play was nearly 5 hours. Not worth the $150 greens fee. Better value at other courses.
Very nice course
Very nice course. Good condition, thought it a little pricey after seeing what else was available in the area at a similar or lower walk on price.
Worth every penny!
This course was a gem. The elevations were incredible, and the conditions were amazing. The greens were quite large, and the fairways were pristine. This course was extremely enjoyable to play with many challenges. I am only here another couple of days and I will attempt to play it again. The price point was perfect too.
Linda's Observations
The course was in excellent condition and the staff was most helpful. My fellow golfers and I thoroughly enjoyed our experience and look forward to the next opportunity.
local
I remember playing this course when it first built. It has sustsined some wear and tear over the years , but it does seem that the fairways could use attention. The greens were in excellent shape , and the staff was very freindly.
Fun course
Very fun course to play. Errant tee shots seemed to funnel back into the fairways. Greens were a bit slow but still in good shape. There were some rough patches on the fairways which was surprising but aside from that, it was beautiful. Great scenery and a lot of elevation makes for some fun shots. I will go back.
One worth playing!
Course was in excellent shape compared to allot of other courses they water this one well- very green and awesome views of the valley and the golf holes
GREAT COURSE
We like the diversity of the course architecture,
every hole presents different challenges.
Great layout, lousy conditions
Have played here before, and really liked it. But disappointed w. grass conditions. Greens were shaggy, fairways (both rye in the middle, bermuda on the edges) were in bad shape. Would have been OK if the course had discounted the price, but they were asking $130/rd, and the conditions were NOT worth it.
Beautiful views even if you are having a bad game
Beautiful course, nice practice facility. Enjoy it every time.
Great Golf Course
I've been coming down to Scottsdale for Spring Break for the the last five years and been playing different golf courses. This was the first time I played Eagle Mountain. I have to say it's now one of my favorities. The course was in excellent condition. It was challenging, but fair and had some memorable holes. I liked this course as much as Troon. I would highly recommend to the serious golfer a great experience.
Lots of Potential
The course was well laid out and had beautiful views. The practice facilities were quite nice as was the clubhouse. The disappointing part was the condition of the fairways, which were pretty beat up and gouged. Also surprising were the greens, very hard such that they never held shots, even those hit well and right on target. Lots of potential but only a fair value for the money in present condition.
Great Internet course
The course hired a great company to do the Internet site....they did a great job air brushing the dead spots out of every hole. The rough was horrible...pretty much dead or sand. The greens were great.
Not Bad
I enjoyed the course. The clubhouse staff could not have been more friendly and made me feel like i was a valued customer. I did get a little annoyed with the ranger that kept reminding us to stay right behind the group in front of us when we were waiting on the on every hole.
The course itself was very nice. I found the greens to be a little on the slow side and very difficult.
All and all I will recommend this course to others. Happy I played but I'll keep experimenting with other courses in the area before going back.
Eagle mountain success
This is a great layout , have played here two times before but the course was in much better shape the other tImes we played here. Not sure if this is due to the drought in the SW.
Greens were in good shape but off the fairway into the rough there was no grass.
