Starr Pass - RoadRunner #9 Photo submitted by Mark7630854 on 10/08/2012
Horrible Day.
This course is usually in great shape. I have never played it in these bad conditions. The greens are all chucked up, with all fringe under repair. Pace of play was terrible on the 2nd 9, Taking at least 3 hours to play that side. There is no warning on the site, and they are still charging $75 per player, totally not worth it.
2 holes 8,9, was closed, first 3 holes was so wet
We couldn’t pull out of plugged balls, fingers all muddy, shoes got all wet, should let is know before start to play
Not in good shape
Greens are in terrible shape not sure what is going on patches of sod everywhere course design and views amazing
Course review
Some holes are under construction still but will be worth it when done. GPS on cart was an issue on several holes. Kept locking us out saying we weren’t on the cart path even though we were on the cart path so that was kind of a pain. Course played well greens are very soft.
Full price for bad greens/maintenance
Typically this course is in good shape. However I would avoid playing here for the foreseeable future. Every green in Coyote/Rattler was under construction near the fringe. Every bunker was empty. And multiple holes had a full crew of maintenance men working on it. Tractors, and large dump trucks included. So not only is it a difficult course, but you also have to avoid 18 foot high dump trucks and a crew of 10 people by the green. On top of that, they still want full summer rates to play. Only heads up they gave me was that #8 on Coyote was under construction and that we might have to skip it. Surprisingly that was the only hole not being worked on. Not coming back for a long time.
Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback. We sincerely apologize for the inconveniences you encountered during your round. It's clear that the level of maintenance happening on the course significantly impacted your experience, and we regret that this wasn't communicated more thoroughly before your round.
The maintenance work on Coyote/Rattler is part of a larger effort to improve the course for the long term, but we understand that this isn't what you were expecting. Your comments about the greens, bunkers, and ongoing work are noted, and we'll ensure our team is informed to minimize disruptions and improve our communication with guests moving forward.
We're also reviewing our pricing during this period to ensure it reflects the current course conditions. We value your business and would love the opportunity to make this right in the future when the work is complete. Please feel free to reach out to us directly if you'd like to discuss your experience further.
Thank you again for your feedback, and we hope to welcome you back under better circumstances.

Summer conditions?
Fairways and tee boxes were in decent shape, the greens appeared to be “under repair” and had no grass where the fringe is supposed to be, just dirt. Challenging layout and great views of local fauna and Tucson.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. We're glad to hear that you found the fairways and tee boxes in good shape and enjoyed the views of Tucson. However, we apologize for the condition of the greens, particularly the fringe areas. The repairs are part of ongoing improvements to enhance the course, but we understand that this affected your experience.
We appreciate your patience during this time and your valuable feedback. We hope you'll consider giving us another chance once the course renovations are complete, so you can fully enjoy everything the course has to offer. Please feel free to reach out if you have any further comments or concerns.

Nice fairways but greens needed some work!
Overall, good experience considering a lot of work being done on course!
Thank you for your understanding. We're glad to hear you had a good experience despite the ongoing work on the course. We appreciate your patience as we make improvements, and we hope your next round will be even better once the updates are complete. If you have any further feedback or suggestions, we'd love to hear them!

Construction
The course was under construction. Only one nine was playable and that had one hole you couldn't play. The assistant was a nice person but had no idea what was happening on the course. My friend is going through some stuff and I am dealing with chemo treatments so we wanted to just play some golf and get away from daily life. A note on the website saying the course was under construction is the least I would have expected. Disappointed...
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. First and foremost, we sincerely apologize for the lack of communication regarding the course conditions. We understand that your visit was meant to be a break from the challenges you're facing, and we're truly sorry that it didn’t meet your expectations.
Your feedback about the website notification and the lack of knowledge from our staff has been noted, and we will take immediate action to improve how we communicate course conditions with our guests.
We’d love the opportunity to make this right for you in the future. Please feel free to reach out to us directly, and we’ll do our best to provide a better experience.
Wishing you and your friend strength and support during this time. Thank you again for your feedback.

DO NOT PLAY
Renovations underway making this course impossible to play. Only 16/18 holes open and probably 15/16 of those with bunkers under repair and burned up/uncut greens. I cannot underscore enough what horrible condition it's in. This course is usually a gem but currently unplayable and not worth the price. When we approached the clubhouse they offered us 25% back, which is a sad consolation for a $75 dollar round (summer rate) that is playing like a local muni. Staff needs to be transparent about issues and significantly reduce the green fees.
Do not waste your time and go play Sewailo (perfect condition for $55).
Thank you for your candid feedback. We're truly sorry to hear about your disappointing experience. The conditions you described are not what we aim to offer, and we regret that the ongoing renovations made the course unplayable for you.
We understand your frustration with the state of the bunkers, greens, and the limited number of playable holes. Your suggestion to be more transparent and adjust the green fees is well taken, and we'll work on better communication and pricing during this renovation period.
We apologize that the partial refund didn’t reflect the value of your experience. We’ll strive to improve both our course conditions and guest experience moving forward. Thank you for bringing this to our attention, and we hope you’ll give us another chance once the renovations are complete.

Beautiful Course
Starr Pass is a beautiful course and a great layout. The course is challenging but fair in that there are bail out options for most shots.
I gave course conditions 3 stars, because of the work work that they are doing on the course this summer. It is what it is, a lot of bunkers under construction. (Good thing I avoided them, lol) I assume the course will be ready for the winter season.
Thank you for the thoughtful review! We're glad to hear that you enjoyed the layout and found the course both challenging and fair. We appreciate your understanding regarding the current construction work and its impact on course conditions.
We’re confident that the renovations will enhance the course, and we look forward to having everything in top shape for the winter season. Thank you for your patience and for sharing your experience with us. We hope to see you back soon to enjoy the fully renovated course!

My new favorite
Beautiful course, was a little muddy but it’s monsoon season so not really surprised. Never disappointed when I play Starr pass. Staff was awesome and friendly.
Thank you for your kind words! We’re glad to hear you enjoyed the course and found the staff to be friendly. Monsoon season can certainly bring some challenges, but it’s great to know that it didn’t impact your overall experience. We look forward to welcoming you back and hope your next round is as enjoyable as ever!

Challenging fun course
Overall, course is in very good shape. Some greens are a little rough, but they are in process of rebuilding the greens.
Thank you for the feedback! We're pleased to hear that the overall condition of the course is good. We appreciate your understanding regarding the greens as we work improving the conditions.
We’re confident the improvements will be worth it, and we look forward to providing an even better experience once the updates are complete. Thanks again for your patience and support!

Best Course in Tucson!
The course is beautiful! Staff is super friendly, there is a free driving range, the golf cart comes with a range finder and Bluetooth connection!
It’s fantastic to hear that you enjoyed the course and found the staff to be friendly! We’re glad you took advantage of the driving range and the features on the golf cart enhancements. We strive to make every round enjoyable, and your positive feedback really means a lot. We look forward to seeing you again soon!

Good shape
The course was in great shape for this time of year. Greens were true and the fairways had lots of green grass. The course can be challenging. Even saw 6 deer on the course.
4.4124 STARRS
Very challenging golf course with several beautiful and unique holes! Bring your A game or you are likely in for a frustrating day.
Thanks for being on GolfNow
Thank you for your feedback. We're glad to hear that you enjoyed the course overall and appreciate your understanding of the ongoing construction. We believe the improvements will be worth it once completed.
We apologize for the issues you experienced with the GPS on the cart. That sounds frustrating, especially when you're sticking to the cart path. We had a notification of Solar flares recently which impacted national GPS tracking, but we'll look into this to ensure it is resolved.
If you have any other thoughts or suggestions, feel free to share them with us! We hope to see you again soon.
