Short but challenging
A beautiful golf course with Camelback Mountain as a back drop. This par three course is short, but offers challenges on every hole. Great for those just learning the game but also a lot of fun for the more experienced golfer. Bring your short game, because if you don't you may need a calculator to add the strokes that can pile on quickly. The greens are small, fast, and surrounded by bunkers.
Only complaint...an over zealous Field Marshall who is constantly grumpy and complains about pace of play eventhough you maybe standing on the tee box waiting for the group to putt out in front of you.
That said I will continue to play this course on a regular basis.
Short but not easy
Perfect exec course. 16 par 3's, two par 4's, very tough greens (undulating and fast and often multi-tiered and hard to read). Didn't quite use every club in the bag, as other reviewers have suggested, because the two holes long enough for driver were also very narrow in the landing zone, making a 3-metal my choice. Other than the driver thing, it's like a full-length course in terms of features, facilities, and the atmosphere. Camelback Mountain is a constant presence overlooking the course. It's not a desert course or target golf - other than the narrow landing areas and the ubiquitous (and well kept) hazards left and right of each green. The round took just over three hours. Do bring some extra balls - there are thick bushes bordering a number of holes that will eat missed shots... and the course moves so fast that it seems a shame to hold up other people looking for a little white ball.
This course is overpriced for an 18 hole executive course in this condition in April in Arizona
The staff inside the clubhouse and on the course is very helpful and friendly; many of the tee boxes were not wide enough or level enough; the fairways were well-maintained; many of the greens, especially on the back nine, were extremely hard and too fast; several of the holes are much too short at yardages of only 80 to 120 yards; over 18 holes the beverage cart visited us only one time, on the 15th hole.
Pleasantly surprised at the course condition...
Took my grandson and we were very impressed with the course condition overall, but especially the greens. Fast... found the course challenging and can't wait to play again.
The course is a gem tucked in a mature neighborhood at the base of beautiful Camelback Inn
This little gem of a course is nestled in a mature neighborhood at the foot of Camelback Mountain in beautiful Paradise Valley, AZ. For a quick round of 18, enjoy the scenery while practicing your short game.
Good value in scenic surroundings
Course in great condition, playing time was fast, starter was very helpful.
unbelievably beautiful executive course it's a must play
Just awesome course...short but challenging...I will definitely play there again
Executive Course Par 58
I made the reservation at the last minute and got a fantastic rate for the quality of the course. Very friendly staff and pace of play of acceptable. The views of Camelback and Mummy Mountains are the best in Phoenix. The course is well maintained and has many trees and several water features. All in all, a very pleasant experience.
Very nice executive course with beautiful views of Camelback Mountain.
I booked this course for the views and the price on GolfNow. We were not disappointed.
My wife's favorite course
This is a very pretty executive course near Camelback that is easy to play. Almost all par 3's with a couple of exceptions make this a good choice for many people.
Beautiful Short course
What a gem. Great for working on your short game, only two par 4's on course. Greens are fast, but nice. The whole course is in perfect condition. Staff was Excellent.
This is a Hidden Gem
I have played this course before and will absolutely play it again. It is kept in excellent condition, staff is very friendly and they have a nice little golf shop. There were over 200 starts the day we played and only had to wait 5 min or so on a few of the holes.
Compact golf course good for training.
This is not a championship golf course but more a compact golf course. Very good for training and have fun. It is compact but you will have to use all of your golf clubs and some holes are challenging. Very good value for the location in Scottsdale and some scenic views.
I go there to play relax after playing a "monster".
Short, but none the less challenging!
If you look at a 3000 yard course and dismiss it on that merit you're not a real golfer. This course has shot values ranked right up there with the big boys. Playing to small, undulating, and hard/fast greens requires even 99 yard par 3's shot precision if you want to score. Along with the challenging shot values is the ease and quickness of play (we played in 3 hours) and awesome views of nearby Camelback and Mummy mountains. Leave your ego at home and enjoy!
Mountain Shadows
This is a great executive course, challenging and fun.
They have good amenities, older facility but kept very well.
Staff is very friendly and helpful. I'll definitely go back and hope to soon!
Not difficult, but lots of fun
I've played Mountain Shadows several times, and without fail the staff are very friendly and the course is kept in very good condition. It isn't terribly difficult, but the course has enough challenges to make play interesting. When family comes to Scottsdale to visit, that's often where I bring them.
A real challenge for your short irons. Not really an executive course with only one par 4 on each nine.
Course is in very nice condition and the greens were fast and undulating, making it difficult to score well. There's water on a few holes and lots of sand with many pin placements directly behind the bunkers. Definitely a challenge to one's short game and ability to use all wedges. Rate of play was excellent - 2 3/4 hours. One criticism is that many of the tee boxes are too close to the previous greens resulting in having errant tee shots whizzing by while on the tee box.
Excellent scenery and enjoyable course!
Course was in very good condition with excellent greens. Tee boxes need som leveling, but a very enjoyable afternoon of golf and views of Camelback Mtn. on every hole.
can play a round quickly and be back to the office by noon
We enjoy the course and staff. It is close to where we live . And we can play a quick round and be back to our office for most of the day.
COURSE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION
THE EXEC. COURSE IS JUST WHAT IT SAYS AND IT PROVIDE'S EXCELLENT IRON PLAY AND IT'S LOCATED AT THE BASE OF CAMELBACK MT. VERY RELAXING AND CLUB HOUSE LUNCH WAS GREAT.
