Great course for a skins game!
Very well maintained shorty course. Greens roll great and has a good variety of par 3 distances off the tee. Almost made a hole in one on the fly today... sorry about the chunk outta the cup.
Beautiful but short
Great course and long par 3's but too many par 3's.
Excellent course condition!
I played with a 7:00 AM tee time. Some of my observations.
Pros:
-Pristine condition. The grass was thick and green, bunkers were dry and fluffy, greens were beautiful and rolled true.
-Good challenge. This is an executive course but the Par 3's had some well placed bunkers and long holes to make it interesting.
-Excellent water holes. There is a portion of the course built around a series of ponds and a creek. Truly beautiful and relaxing.
-The views. The red rocks of Camelback Mountain loom over the south facing holes. It is breathtaking. The rugged beauty of the Phoenix mountains face the north and west.
-Value. I was able to get an amazing deal on this course through Golfnow.
Cons:
-The only thing I can think of is the attendant on the last hole cleaned our clubs without asking first which could present an awkward situation for some people.
My round here was extremely relaxing and pleasant. I highly recommend!
great layout
Fast with challenging greens. Very nice location.......
You have to make the shots to score
Nice executive style layout. The course was in very nice condition the day I played considering the 100+ degree days preceding my visit. Staff was friendly and helpful. You really have to make your shots here as the protecting bunkers around the greens can capture many tee shots. Sand in the bunkers was a little heavy due to course watering but i found the feel shortly. Nice experience all around...
nice and quick on a blistering hot day
A beverage cart would have been nice. One of the geese had a bad leg and needed medical attention. Too much bark laying around the greens. The greens were great. The overall condition of the course was great.
She is a tight one.
I hadn't played in a few weeks so I figured an executive course would be a fun way to knock the rust off. Mountain Shadows was a really good value for a picturesque course. I'm not sure what is going on at that resort, I heard mention of bankruptcy but I don't think it would take much with that location and course to make it profitable again.
I excepted it to be short but I wasn't expecting to tee off with a 9 iron on 15/18 holes. You could probably play the course with 4 or less clubs and be alright. Even with a very modest yardage this course was not easy. The holes were packed in there tight and tee boxes were all within spitting distance of the previous green. That lead to some frustrating shots that felt/looked good but ended up out of play. Don't play this course for the final score but instead to fine tune your short game.
course was good and fun.....
course condition was good and challenge...... also it was good price for rounding...
anyway good course...
I Love this place
I hope the course, pricing and staff stay as great as they are. I always recommend this course! It's awesome!
Fun and Challenging Exec Course
My wife, a beginner, and I, a 14 handicapper, both enjoyed playing Mountain Shadows. The course is fun and challenging. It is also well maintained. The views of Camelback are beautiful. We will play there again.
Best way to get 18 in after work...
Book a 13 dollar summer rate on here, head over around 4 or 5, and get 18 in in about 2.5 hrs.
Its well maintained, has some picturesque holes.
Only 2 complaints:
Theres a closed run down apt complex around 1 and 18 that is kind of creepy. I assume itll be demo'd soon.
Even from back tees, most of the holes are a little short and itd be nice to have more than two par4s.
Great for short game work.
Price great. Good course to work on short game. Fun and fast rounds.
Great shape, nice greens.
My daughter and I booked the round for the low price offered. It was well worth it. As suggested by other comments we played from the back tees. The front tees make the course too short. The holes were challenging when the greens were missed. The views of Camelback or Mummy mountain on every hole are incredible. Jeff in the clubhouse was very cordial and offered us plenty of tips to the course. We played at a normal pace, were never rushed, and finished in 2.5 hours.
Beautiful Course
In my opinion you will not find a better par 3 course in phoenix.
The price is outstanding the facility is amazing and the staff is helpful and never rude. It features very nice water and sand hazards. It is also a great course for beginners as it offers plenty of practice for your short game.
Great course!
Certainly the best executive course in this area and maybe one of the best in the country.
super fun par3 course
First time playing Mountain Shadows, what a fun course. Leave your driver at home for this one. Conditions were great, pace of play was a non issue we were the only players on the course. The scenery was fantastic. Rene in the bar was a delight.
steady pace
good layout, great tune up for short games, need to adjust yardage, and need to put better sands in the bunkers
Great Short course
Best short course ever played. Excellent conditions, beautiful setting, use every iron in the bag. Tight rolly greens. A must play in Scottsdale. Great value.
Nice executive course with great mountain views
Great experience. Nice course to practice your short game.
Surprise Package
At par 56 you would think this would be a push over but this 18 hole course in Paradise Valley is cleverly laid out, quite technical and a good test of iron play. The greens are in superb condition and mostly the fairways are well maintained. There are plenty of bunkers to challenge even the single figure handicapper. The only negative would be four overly short holes,10,11,13,and 18 all of which could be improved with utilizing the black tees for all players. Holes 8 and 9 could likewise be improved.
Great prices also makes this course superb value for money.
